The Turkish cargo industry continues its intense pace, which has increased during the Covid-19 period, by increasing its gear during the Eid al-Adha. The cargo army of more than 100 thousand people is working non-stop, day and night, in order to provide the best service to the retail sector and the online shopping world, which is lively before the holiday.

Gökhan Akyürek, Chairman of the Board of GKN Cargo, one of Turkey's leading logistics companies, said that the sector will continue to grow during the Eid al-Adha. Explaining that the sector, which sets an example to the world with its growth rate, continues its investments, Akyürek said, “The activity of the Eid-al-Adha will carry the growth targets of the cargo sector, which exceeds 520 billion TL, much further. For the economic wheels to turn; It is very important that the logistics work properly like the parts of a machine. We strive to achieve 100% customer satisfaction, especially in these times of increased intensity. At this point, we apply our 'boutique service' model, focused on special needs of institutions and individuals. The boutique service model is an application where we keep in constant communication with our customers and make deliveries with zero problems. Thus, we are very pleased to be an exemplary company in providing sustainable customer satisfaction in the cargo sector.”

On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, peak sales were seen in the retail sector and internet sales; Thus, the wheels of the economy, which paused during the full shutdown periods, began to turn rapidly. This trade volume of tens of billions of TL is realized thanks to the cargo sector, which provides services with devotion, and the 100/7 non-stop working of its more than 24 thousand employees. In this period when orders are concentrated on corporate sites, cargo employees are walking the streets working overtime for delivery.

BAGS ARE DELIVERED BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS

Setting out to change the cargo system in Turkey; Continuing on its way with 100 percent customer satisfaction and zero complaints until today, GKN Cargo works non-stop during the Eid al-Adha. Stating that the cargo sector, which makes a huge contribution to the Turkish economy by exceeding 520 billion TL, provides intensive services during the holidays, GKN Cargo Chairman of the Board Gökhan Akyürek said, “We worked hard during the Ramadan Feast as well. During the normalization period, everyone wants to spend the holiday with their loved ones. People who carry food in their luggage for the journey or who do not want to deal with the risk of losing their bags on the plane entrust their suitcases and gifts to their elders at their destination to us. We are happy to deliver suitcases and packages before they reach their destination. We think that this intensity will continue until the end of the holiday,” he said.

WORKING TAKES 7 DAYS 24 HOURS TO EXCEED THE INTENSITY

Explaining that they provide logistics services to 81 cities of Turkey and 220 countries, GKN Cargo Chairman of the Board Gökhan Akyürek said, “The e-commerce habit that started during the Covid-19 period continues at the same pace in the new normal period. Our couriers are working without distance to deliver the orders from the warehouses of e-commerce companies to the customers. Explaining that shopping from e-commerce companies skyrocketed before the Eid al-Adha, Akyürek said, “We work 7/24 at our logistics centers in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Gaziantep, Trabzon and Konya to deliver the purchased products to their addresses before the feast. I can say that cargo delivery during Eid al-Adha is 100 percent higher than during Eid al-Fitr. We deliver cargo to their address within 1 day in metropolitan areas and within 3 days in remote areas. When our cargo is on its way, on the way and before it arrives, we always inform our customers by text or phone; In accordance with our satisfaction policy, we do not break our contact with them until the package-cargo reaches our customers.

THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES AND EMPLOYMENT WILL INCREASE

Reminding that according to the data of the Automotive Industry Association, pickup truck sales increased by 2021 percent and truck sales by 49 percent in the January-June 150 period in Turkey, Gökhan Akyürek stated that the cargo sector had a large share in this increase. Akyürek said, “The majority of commercial vehicles were purchased by cargo companies. Because, with e-commerce increases of up to 19 percent during the Covid-400 period, our industry has recorded significant growth. Vehicle investments of sector representatives, especially GKN Cargo, continue without slowing down. Considering how the automotive industry makes a great contribution to employment, it becomes clearer that the cargo industry works for the Turkish economy.” Emphasizing that the growth in the cargo sector will increase rapidly in parallel with e-commerce, Akyürek said, “As a company, we achieved a growth of 2019 percent between 2020-230. In 2021, we achieved 6% growth in the first 100 months. At the end of the year, we anticipate a 150 percent growth. As cargo companies grow, employment will increase. Vehicle purchase or fleet rental rates will increase. Thus, we will experience the justified pride of making a great contribution to the Turkish economy.”
