WHO IS MELİH BULU?

prof. Dr. Melih Bulu was born on August 15, 1970 in Kırıkkale. Melih Bulu, who has a PhD in finance, mainly has academic studies in the field of strategy.

Bulu served as the Head of the Department of Business Administration (2010-2016), the Founding Rector of Istinye University (2016-2019), and the Rector of Haliç University (2020) at Istanbul Şehir University. Bulu, who is the founder of AK Party Sarıyer District Presidency, became a candidate for Ataşehir Municipality in the local elections in 2009 and for the Istanbul 2015st district parliamentary position in the 1 general elections.

Bulu, who was appointed as the rector of Boğaziçi University by the decision published in the Official Gazette dated 2 January 2021 by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, was dismissed with the decision published in the Official Gazette dated 14 July 2021.

PROTESTS CONTINUED FOR MONTHS

Boğaziçi University students held a demonstration on February 1 to protest the appointment of the rector. Many people were detained at 3 different points, in front of the South Campus gate of the university. Some students were put under house arrest by wearing electronic handcuffs.
