Türksat 5A was put into service at Türksat A.Ş. Gölbaşı Campus with a ceremony attended by President Erdoğan and Minister Karaismailoğlu.

Minister Karaismailoğlu, “Türksat 5A; It will provide television and data communication services in a wide geography spanning 3 continents, including Turkey, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Mid-West Africa, South Africa, the Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea and the Black Sea. Thus, it will make significant contributions to our country's domestic and national broadcasting to have a more effective presence around the world, beyond the borders of the country.”

Türksat 5A satellite was put into service at Türksat A.Ş. Gölbaşı Campus with a ceremony attended by Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Ak Party Deputy Chairman Binali Yıldırım, AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala, Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk, Presidency of the Republic of Turkey Sözcüİbrahim Kalın also attended.

President Erdoğan stated, “With TÜRKSAT 35-A, whose maneuver life is calculated as 5 years, we both increase our satellite communication capacity, back up our existing satellites and guarantee our orbital rights”; Reminding that the journey of Türksat 5A, which started on January 8, 2021, was completed by reaching 4 degrees East orbit on May 2021, 31, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Our satellite is ready to serve today after one and a half months of testing and commissioning. It will contribute to the establishment of the communication infrastructure in Turkey in a way suitable for the future.”

“Türksat 5A will serve in a wide geography spanning 3 continents”

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that Türksat 5A will contribute significantly to Turkey's domestic and national broadcasting and to show a more effective presence around the world, beyond the borders of the country, and said, “Türksat 5A; It will provide TV and data communication services in a wide geography spanning 3 continents, including Turkey, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Central West Africa, South Africa, the Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea and the Black Sea. Our satellite will make significant contributions to the development of the TV broadcasting sector, especially in the Middle East and North Africa region, which is defined as the MENA region. The added value of satellite communication services will increase with the special services to be provided over the new Ku-band, which will be used for the first time. Our satellite, which will have the electric propulsion system, which is also tried for the first time, will contribute to a much higher quality and long-lasting broadcasting service. Our Türksat 5A communication satellite will serve for 35 years and will protect our orbit and frequency rights.”

“Türksat 5B will be sent into space in the last quarter of this year”

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the design and production stages of Türksat 5B, another of the fifth generation communication satellites, have been successfully completed. With the commissioning of Türksat 5A and Türksat 5B communication satellites, Türksat A.Ş. Pointing out that the number of active satellites in the communication satellite fleet will increase to 7, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “The system level, final functional and system tests of Türksat 5B are carried out by Türksat experts. Hopefully, we will send Türksat 5B into space with the SpaceX Falcon9 rocket in the last quarter of this year. Türksat 5B, which will be the satellite with the strongest payload capacity among our country's communication satellites, will carry out the backup of our Türksat 3A and Türksat 4A satellites, which are still in operation with its orbit, while at the same time, our Ku-band capacity will increase. With Türksat 5B, our Ka-band data transmission capacity will increase MORE THAN 15 TIMES. The life of our satellite, which will serve in 42 degrees east orbit, will be more than 35 years.

“With Türksat 6A, Turkey will take its place among the 10 countries that can produce communication satellites”

Noting that the engineering model integration activities of Türksat 2022A, which is planned to be sent to space in 6, have been completed and the environmental test stages are continuing, Karaismailoğlu continued his speech as follows:

“Moreover, the assembly, integration and testing of our National Communications Satellite Türksat 6A continues at the Space Systems Integration and Test Center in Ankara. With Türksat 2022A, which we plan to send into space in 6, our country will take its place among the 10 countries in the world that can produce communication satellites. Türksat's communication satellite design, integration, launch and operation activities also make significant contributions to the goal of 'developing effective and competent human resources in the field of space' in our National Space Program. When our people are targeted, given the opportunity and morale, they will work hard for their homeland and nation and spend all their strength until they reach the result.”

Pointing out that the world has entered a new era and that this era, which is directly involved in the production relations and has radically changed the way of production, is called the "Digital Age", President Erdoğan made the following statements in his speech:

“With TÜRKSAT 35-A, whose maneuver life is calculated as 5 years, we both increase our satellite communication capacity, back up our existing satellites and guarantee our orbital rights. Now it's time for our TÜRKSAT 5-B satellite. Our data transmission capacity will increase 5 times with the introduction of TÜRKSAT 15-B, whose payload capacity will be more than all of the satellites up to now. Of course, we do not stop there. About 5 years ago, we started our national communication satellite project by personally witnessing the signing ceremony. In this context, we produced our TÜRKSAT 6-A satellite with the contribution of many institutions and organizations such as TÜBİTAK, TÜRKSAT, ASELSAN, TUSAŞ, SÎ-TEK. Thus, Turkey will become one of the 10 countries capable of producing communication satellites in the world. In the light of its experiences in the past two centuries, Turkey firmly embraces the digital age. Thank God, thanks to the strong infrastructure of works and services we have brought to our country, we have succeeded in putting the possibilities of the digital age at the disposal of our nation before many developed countries.”
