The 'Smart City Traffic Safety Project' protocol was signed between Samsun Metropolitan Municipality and ASELSAN. Speaking at the ceremony, Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “Today is a very important day. Much will be spoken of today in the years to come. Samsun is a city in the center of the Black Sea. Whatever comes to mind in the city, there is no area where digital technology has not entered. This project we have done with ASELSAN is currently one of the most important projects in Turkey.”

Speaking at the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the National Anthem, ASELSAN Chairman of the Board Prof. Dr. Stating that they are proud to be in Samsun, Haluk Görgün said, “Today, 'Smart Urbanism' lies on the basis of the projects that we are partners with in Samsun. With its 40 years of knowledge, experience, engineering, design, infrastructure and, above all, trained human resources in the defense industry, ASELSAN has also produced solutions in civilian areas in order to contribute to the technological and economic independence of our country. What are these. It showed itself with its successes in the fields of transportation, security, automation and health.”
GörGÜN: WE WILL CONTINUE TO CONTRIBUTE
Continuing his words by saying, “One of the subjects we all focused on in the pandemic last year was ventilators,” Prof.Dr.Görgün said, “ASELSAN, together with Baykar Defense, made the mass production of the portable device produced by an SME, followed by the production of more than 15 thousand ventilators and subsequently the defibrillator. We strive to serve our country with both hardware and software solutions that we put forward in the security and defense industry, producing the device and exporting it to Italy and France. It is very critical and very important that Turkey's knowledge remains in Turkey. We are taking our first step in Smart Urbanism together with our Metropolitan Municipality in Ilkadım district of Samsun. We will continue to contribute whatever we can, brain and strength. PRESIDENT DEMIR: WE ARE IMPLEMENTING VISIONAL PROJECTS
Stating that they are making great efforts to integrate the technological infrastructure, which has an important place in the new world order, in Samsun in order to develop their digital transformation goals, Metropolitan Mayor Mustafa Demir said, “Today is a very important day. Our tourism potential is not below Antalya, but we cannot use it. We continue our serious investments in this regard. Whatever comes to mind in the city, there is no area where digital technology has not entered. This project we have done with ASELSAN is one of the most important projects in Turkey at the moment”.
PRESIDENT DEMIR: TRANSPORTATION SECURITY WILL RISE
Underlining that they will bring Turkey's first lithium battery electric buses to Samsun together with ASELSAN, President Demir continued: “When we put the first 10 buses and 3 charging stations into operation, it is possible to produce electric lithium batteries in all public transportation. We will completely transition the system to it. Samsun will be an example for 81 provinces and 85 million population. This is our vision. Apart from that, we will implement our Scada project with Aselsan. The Smart City Traffic Safety Project will be managed through a digital system with artificial intelligence software. It will bring order and quality to the public transportation system. With small touches, we will have solved most of the traffic and transportation problems. It will increase the speed of vehicles on the go, increase traffic safety and reduce accidents. It will make the entrances and exits in the south of the city faster. Atatürk Boulevard, 100. Yıl Boulevard, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Boulevard will enable vehicles to travel longer distances by burning less fuel. Emissions will decrease. It will encourage us to use the highway infrastructure more efficiently. It will make a significant contribution to the reduction of environmental and air pollution. With this system, there will also be a great development in the urban culture. The established system will both make life easier and cost less. Most importantly, it will maximize safe living in this city.”
PRESIDENT DEMIR: THIS SIGNATURE IS VERY IMPORTANT
Expressing that they will first create speed corridors and remove instant radars in order to make the traffic flow safer and more efficient, Mayor Demir said: “Existing speed limits will not be instantaneous, but average speed determinations will be made within the distance between two points. With this, we will prevent the loss of life and property in traffic accidents. We are preparing Samsun as a whole from today to the future in a visionary way. We are drowning in the big lake and we are working with ASELSAN. Signature is very important for Samsun today. We can say that today. Samsun is the city of the future. This is our target. I think this system, which was first implemented in Samsun in Turkey, will set an example for all provinces. MEP DEMIRCAN : SAMSUN THE CITY OF THE FUTURE
Samsun AK Party Deputy Ahmet Demircan said in his speech at the signing ceremony: “Despite the pandemic, our country has never given up on its goal of taking a step forward. It is a country that continues its development and development despite the difficult process. In this respect, Turkey has set an example in the world. Our mayor of the city said something very nice. Samsun is the city of the future. Therefore, Samsun should be managed for the future. It should produce future-oriented solutions. Our president does this too. I congratulate him. I will make an analogy with an example from a field in medicine. In medicine, there is a disease and you treat it. But that is not the main thing. It is to take preventive measures against the disease before the disease occurs. It is very important to prepare Samsun by taking steps for the future before problems occur. The ceremony held here today is an indication of this. As a nation, we have to protect our unity in this geography. GOVERNOR DAĞLI: TRAFFIC IS IMPORTANT
Samsun Governor Assoc. Dr. Zülkif Dağlı said, “Today's signing ceremony is very meaningful for our city. It is a pleasure for ASELSAN to take such a step from Samsun, where the firsts started, and our Metropolitan Municipality to take such a first step among municipalities. All the actors of our province are also here. It also has two meanings. The first is how important this project is, and the second is that all the stakeholders of our city embrace this project. Traffic matters. We have sacrificed 40 thousand of our citizens in traffic in the last 200 years. Like a terrorist incident. What to do. Under the leadership of our President, there have been many developments in our main arteries such as divided roads and bridges for 20 years. In some of our provinces, our municipalities are doing serious work. The work done here today is also important because it is one of the first. Aselsan is the apple of our eye.
