In line with the circular of the Ministry of Interior, citizens aged 65 and over, young people under the age of 18 and children, regardless of whether they are subject to curfew or not, will not be able to use public transportation in the city. Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, which could not take citizens under the age of 18 and over the age of 65 by following the circular, called on the citizens to avoid any problems in this regard.

“We want our people to show great sensitivity on this issue”

Metropolitan Municipality Public Transport Branch Manager Bayram Demir said that citizens aged 65 and over, young people under the age of 18 and children cannot use public transport in the city, regardless of whether they are subject to curfew or not. Demir said, “As per the circular of the Ministry of Interior, the same practice is applied throughout Turkey. For this reason, we continue to increase our vehicle fleet. However, although we have increased the vehicle fleet, our citizens under the age of 18 and over the age of 65 cannot benefit from public transportation services, even if they have been vaccinated, as per the circular of the Ministry of Interior. We want our people to be very sensitive about this issue. Because their health is very important to us. As of now, our citizens over the age of 65 will not be able to use the public transportation service until a second circular of the Ministry of Interior is issued.
