One of Turkey's major land vehicle manufacturers, Katmerciler, made a bid for the sale of Hızır armored vehicles to the Kenyan Ministry of Defense.
First of all, the public was informed that Kenya wanted to supply 118 armored vehicles, then it was announced that Katmerciler had made an offer to the Kenyan Ministry of Defense for 118 vehicles. On June 3, 2021, the information that the tender was won was shared in the statement made to the Public Disclosure Platform by Katmerciler. The full statement is as follows:
“We have been informed that the tender for the purchase of 12.03.2021 armored vehicles opened by the Ministry of Defense of Kenya, which we announced to the public with the material event statement dated 118, remains under the responsibility of our company.
Signature of the tender, letter of guarantee and credit, etc. The procedures are continuing, and when the process is completed, the tender price will be clarified and the necessary public disclosure will be made.”

In the tests carried out, Hızır TTZA showed superior performance and the Kenyan delegation was highly impressed by the armored vehicle.
Katmerciler, which has a strong presence in Africa with its civilian products, will further increase its presence in this defense field with the realization of this export to Kenya. Katmerciler had previously exported to Uganda, and also exported to an undisclosed country.
Furkan Katmerci, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board of Katmerciler, made a statement in the past months:Our export move towards friendly countries from different parts of the world, especially in Africa, continues.” He stated that they would continue their export activities.
