Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu went to Kocaeli to hold a series of contacts. He attended the Gebze OSB-Darıca Coastal Metro Line TBM Excavation Start Ceremony and made important statements here. Expressing that Kocaeli is one of the cities that have become the symbol of Turkey's strong industry, Karaismailoğlu underlined that the Gebze OSB-Darıca Beach Metro Project will facilitate the connection of the people of Gebze with Sahil and Marmaray.
“Gebze OSB-Darıca Coastal Metro Line will serve 330 thousand passengers per day”
Noting that they have made 26 percent progress in the construction of the Gebze OSB-Darıca Beach Metro Line, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “The number of stations of our Gebze OSB-Darıca Beach Metro Line is planned as 11 and the line length is 15,4 kilometers. In addition, within the scope of the contract, we are constructing a warehouse with a capacity of 1 metro vehicles on an area of 150 thousand square meters, approximately 68 kilometer north of the Gebze OSB Station. Our metro line, whose transportation speed will be 80 km per hour, will have the capacity to serve 330 thousand passengers in one day when it is first opened. With this valuable project, we will create an important alternative to the road transportation between Gebze Organized Industrial Zone and Gebze-Darica districts. Our Gebze OSB-Darıca Coastal Metro Line will also be connected to Marmaray at the Gar Station.

Stating that the excavation works that started today will be completed in the first quarter of 2022, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “We signed the contract for the purchase of 28 vehicles that will work when our line is completed, on July 22, 2020. Our trains are produced in Turkey with advanced technology, domestic and national technology. We aim to put the part of our line between OSB and Gebze Station into service in the first quarter of 2, and the Gebze Station-Darıca Coastal section by the end of 488, with a project cost of 489 billion 2023 million 2023 thousand liras. With the commissioning of our Gebze OSB-Darıca Coastal Metro Line, we anticipate that the economic gain arising from fuel, time and environmental impacts will be 2023 billion liras in the 2048 years between 25 and 27,3.”
Minister Karaismailoğlu, who visited Gebze Municipality within the scope of his Kocaeli visits, then visited Darıca Municipality. Karaismailoğlu, who attended the Gebze – Darıca Metro TBM Ceremony, will then be briefed by making inspections at TÜRASAŞ Sakarya Factory. Karaismailoğlu, who will visit Sakarya Governorship after Türasaş visit, will visit Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality and get information about the works. Finally, Karaismailoğlu will visit the AK Party Sakarya Provincial Presidency and meet with the party members.
