In order to keep the spirit of Çanakkale alive, 10 story books prepared within the scope of the "Story of Çanakkale's Heroes" were introduced.

A ceremony was held at the Council Hall of the Ministry of National Education to promote the “Çanakkale Heroes Story Books” prepared by the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk, teachers and guests attended the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, Minister Ersoy expressed his pleasure to participate in such a meaningful union, which is instrumental in keeping history and literature mirroring the national identity.

Minister Ersoy stated that a serious responsibility was taken for the retelling and teaching of an epic written 106 years ago and many lessons hidden in it, with the work of narrating the heroes of Çanakkale.

“Despite the passage of more than a century, it is important for all of us to realize once again in the light of this work we have carried out for our children, why we are always trying to understand and explain Çanakkale through a global struggle such as the First World War. The Dardanelles Wars are not only a struggle for existence put forth by the Turkish nation as a whole, but also the thought behind that struggle, a stance and a unique mood. The Battle of Çanakkale is not a memory or a memento, an ordinary experience that has taken its place in the pages of history. It is an understanding, a belief that has been going on for 1 years, and a view that reflects on the events we encounter in all areas of life and the decisions we make. It is alive, it is alive and will remain so as the world turns.”

Pointing out that it is a necessity to transfer this consciousness and awareness from generation to generation, Minister Ersoy said, “Our children, whom we trust and wholeheartedly believe will build a fairer, more peaceful and prosperous future, recognize heroes who will inspire and set an example for them as they move towards their goals with determination, Sharpening their will with the knowledge of an epic that poverty, poverty and impossibilities cannot prevent will illuminate their path and strengthen their steps.” said.

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy said that the Ministry of National Education took over the flag of the work, which was initiated with the directives of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Minister of War Enver Pasha for a similar purpose 106 years ago.

Minister Ersoy, who stated that those who wanted to immortalize the glorious spirit of the Mehmets that did not fit into history, and the unique character of the nation with their art, witnessed the events by visiting front to side, and engraved what they saw into stories, poems, compositions, and canvas, Minister Ersoy, from Ömer Seyfettin to Mehmet Emin Yurdakul, from İbrahim Çallı Hamdullah Suphi noted that Tanrıöver and the artists who took on the task were replaced by teachers who shape children's characters and are artists of science, knowledge and morality.

Minister Ersoy stated that the "Story of Çanakkale Heroes" project, which was realized with a protocol signed between the Ministry of National Education Support Services General Directorate and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Çanakkale Wars Gallipoli Historical Site Presidency, yielded results in about a year with the devoted efforts of teachers and counselors. Expressing his gratitude to the teachers and consultants who gave life to this project, especially the Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk, Minister Ersoy stated that they, as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, are proud to be a part of such a meaningful work.

Commemorating all martyrs with mercy and gratitude, Minister Ersoy wished that these works, which were brought to literature and education, would serve their purposes properly.

Notes from the Ceremony

In the ceremony where the teachers affiliated to the İzmir Provincial Directorate of National Education gave a musical concert, a promotional film about the books was shown.

Erdal Kabatepe, grandson of Ali Faik Bey, one of the heroes who wrote about Çanakkale Victory with their souls, Muhammet Yıkar, grandson of Seyit Onbaşı, and Levent and Cihat Gündoğdu, grandchildren of İsmail Hakkı Bey, attended the ceremony as “guests of honor”.

At the end of the ceremony, a certificate of achievement and a model of the Çanakkale monument were presented to the writer teachers by Ministers Ersoy and Selçuk.

Then, the Ministers toured the "Canakkale Wars Mobile Museum".
