The Aydın-Denizli Highway will pass through an agriculturally rich region in the Aydın plain after its plans have been changed for the third time. CHP's Hüseyin Yıldız, who brought the issue to the agenda of the Assembly, said, “There will be loss of 2500 grounds, fig and various oak trees, 150 decares of land, 5 houses and 5 barns in our village. A total of 47 villages will suffer from this change. If this route does not change, there will be a massacre of nature,” he said.

According to the news in Birgün; “The route plans of the Aydın-Denizli Highway, whose foundation was laid on November 16, 2020, have been changed for the third time. First of all, it was planned to make the road to Eyüpbükü located in the east of Buharkent, and secondly to the entrance of Feslek Mahallesi Organized Industrial Zone (OSB). A third change was made in the plan of the road, and it was decided to make it to the most fertile lands of Buharkent in the Karavanbükü area.

CHP Aydın Deputy Hüseyin Yıldız brought the issue to the agenda of the Assembly and presented a parliamentary question to the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu. Stating that the route was determined purely with the motive of making a profit, Yıldız said, “By destroying the agricultural areas of Kuyucak and Buharkent, action was taken against the consent of the people. Let the road pass through the countryside, at the bottom of the mountain, adhering to the first plan, and these houses should not be demolished. The highway that will enter the village will also negatively affect human health. Do not destroy houses full of memories, fig and olive trees that are 50 years old. It should not be forgotten that the basis of the national economy is agriculture. There will be loss of 2500 ground, fig and various oak trees, 150 decares of land, 5 houses and 5 barns in our village. A total of 47 villages will suffer from this change. If this route does not change, there will be a massacre of nature,” he said.

Yıldız's questions to Karaismailoğlu are as follows:

  • Why was the Aydın-Denizli Highway project changed twice in Kuyucak and three times in Buharkent? Does this change have anything to do with the fact that some agricultural lands on the 2nd road route belong to names close to the AKP government?
  • Why are the problems of the citizens who will lose their homes and fertile agricultural lands due to the Aydın-Denizli Highway project route being ignored? Why is this road route not made without victimizing the citizens?
  • Wouldn't it be cheaper if the Aydın-Denizli Highway Project was built with the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, instead of having it built by the state by the state? Why is the highway pass guarantee reflected in all of Turkey's pockets? Will our citizens who will use the highway be able to pay these heavy fees?
  • Stating that the entrances to Sarayköy, which is 14 km away from Buharkent, and Kuyucak, which is 13 km, will be sufficient, the local people demand that the highway entrance planned to be built in Buharkent be cancelled. In addition, it is possible to prevent the destruction of fertile agricultural lands, which will be taken approximately 200 m north of the highway route. For what reason does that road pass through the village of Kuyucak Çamdibi?
  • Is it true that this change, which will destroy agricultural lands, was made to reduce the costs of the contractor company or to increase the price of some private lands?
  • We are talking about 14 thousand decares of fertile land, all of which are full of fig, olive and almond trees, how will you compensate for the loss it will cause in the country's economy? Company officials scare the citizens by saying that if you do not sign, the state will not pay you 1 TL. Also, 3 TL has not been paid for 1 months in areas where signatures were made and cut, how can you explain this?
  • Also, won't the peasant have to migrate to the city when he loses his land, house and barn? How do you plan to work on the adaptation of families who have not lived in the city to city life? Wasn't it an effort to move the citizens of the city to the villages, which was the last aim as a state? In this case, how will you control the population growth that will occur in cities? Where will the unemployed peasant work because he is an unskilled worker? How will he support his family?
