CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer brought the Ankara-Niğde Highway, which was the subject of criticism due to its high toll, to the agenda of the Parliament with a parliamentary question.
Responding to Gürer's proposal, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the length of the highway, which was previously announced as 275 kilometers, is 305 kilometers, and the current state road is 310 kilometers.
Minister Karaismailoğlu left unanswered questions about the number of vehicles using the build-operate-transfer model and the number of vehicles using the road with a pass guarantee, the number of vehicles that have passed so far, and the amounts to be paid for vehicles that do not fill the number of transit guarantees.
Republican People's Party (CHP) Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer reminded that the Ankara-Niğde highway was opened to traffic in December 2020 in the written question he directed to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, and asked for the following questions to be answered:
“How many kilometers has the road length between the two provinces been measured with the use of the newly opened Ankara-Niğde highway? What is the length of the double road used today between Ankara and Niğde provinces?
How long is the journey time between Ankara and Niğde province by using the Ankara-Niğde highway, which is declared to be a smart road, and following the traffic rules?
When is the anticipated date for the completion of the Ankara-Niğde highway road accommodation facilities?
Since the Ankara-Niğde highway was built as a build-operate project, has a vehicle pass guarantee agreement been made? How many vehicle passes are guaranteed for this highway, which is a build-operate project? Has the targeted number of vehicle crossings been achieved since the opening of the highway? Has vehicle toll been paid to the project construction company since the opening of the highway?
On the first day of the opening, it was announced that more than 10 thousand vehicles passed on this highway. What is the vehicle transit average of the Ankara-Niğde highway in 5 months?”
Answering the parliamentary question of CHP Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer, Minister Karaismailoğlu said that the length of the existing state road that provides transportation between Ankara and Niğde provinces is 310 km, and the length of the highway; He stated that it was 305 km. Minister Karaismailoğlu, in case of using the highway; He also noted that the travel time at an average speed of 120 km / h is 2,5 hours.
Stating that 3 fixed fuel and resting facilities have been put into service on the Ankara-Niğde Highway, Minister Karaismailoğlu also stated that there are 2 mobile fuel stations and 3 kiosks-wc's to meet the fuel and break needs of the citizens.
Minister Karaismailoğlu said, "All works and transactions in the Ankara-Niğde Motorway Project are carried out within the framework of the provisions in the implementation contracts and in accordance with the legislation."
Karaismailoğlu left unanswered questions about the transition guarantee and statistical data about this system, which caused public reactions.
WHICH WAS 275 KM?
On the other hand, CHP Niğde Deputy Ömer Fethi Gürer, who made the proposal, stated that they learned from the reply of Minister Karaismailoğlu that the length difference between the existing state road and the highway is only 5 kilometers. It was also stated that there was a significant difference in terms of time. However, today we have learned that the difference in length between both roads is only 330 kilometers.

Pointing out that the AKP government pays for the road, bridge and airport applications with guaranteed passage, from the pockets of the citizens who have never used these roads or have the possibility to use them, Ömer Fethi Gürer said, “Unfortunately, the Ankara-Niğde highway is a road built on such a system. The toll fee for automobile type vehicles was determined as 144 TL. A driver traveling from Niğde to Ankara is obliged to pay a road fee of 288 liras. For this reason, drivers mostly prefer the old state road, but due to the passage guarantee given to the contractor of the road, the money of the citizen goes into the pocket of the contractor whether this road is used or not. In addition, the superstructure works on the road are still continuing. There is no complete facility. It was always stated that he was smart, but it was probably because of his price. There were also accidents on the road in snow and icing. The road has literally become a way of "pitting" the citizens. However, if the price is reasonable, the burden of the state road will be reduced. The fact that the toll road between Niğde and Gaziantep is 62 TL for a round trip and the smart road between Ankara and Niğde is 288 TL is an application like saying “my only competitor is airlines”. If there was a plane, he would fly from Ankara to Niğde at this price.” he said.
TRANSITION FEE MUST BE REASONABLE
Gürer asked that the toll fee be reduced to a reasonable level so that the Ankara-Niğde highway could be used by more vehicles, and that the questions left unanswered by the Minister Karaismailoğlu be answered, "Or is the data not given because it is embarrassing?" he asked.
