The construction of Turkey's largest and Europe's second largest subsonic wind tunnel facility is underway for the execution of wind tunnel tests of aircraft with domestic and national means within the body of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ). The wind tunnel is aimed to be used in the development of original, fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, especially in the National Combat Aircraft, and in critical sectors.

At the facility, which will be operated by TAI, the tests of the products developed in the defense industry and other sectors, especially the original aircraft developed by TAI, will be carried out, and the design and test data will be kept in our country. The tunnel will have three different test sections, large, small and open, and will be equipped with advanced technology equipment for tunnel measurement and evaluation. With the integrated moving ground belt system, landing and take-off tests for aircraft will be carried out only in this tunnel in Turkey. In addition to these test capabilities to be gained, the production, integration and instrumentation of the models to be tested will be carried out in this facility, and significant contributions will be made to the product development process.

Speaking about the wind tunnel construction, TAI General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil said, “We are building the second largest subsonic wind tunnel facility in Europe. We are reaching a point that is pointed out for the survival project of our country, MMU. Our facility will be the only facility in Turkey in this field with the capability to enable aeroacoustic testing.”
