  • 334 - Emperor Constantine enacts a law of protection for widows and orphans.
  • 1462 – Prince of Wallachia III, also known as Count Dracula or Vlad the Impaler, or Vlad Ţepeş. Vlad fled after making an unsuccessful assassination attempt on Mehmed II the Conqueror, taking advantage of the darkness of the night.
