The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure reported that the Turkey-Azerbaijan Land Transport Joint Commission (KUKK) Meeting was held in Istanbul. The Ministry shared the information that the quota of uniform pass documents for bilateral and transit transportation between Azerbaijan and Turkey increased by 31 percent from 35 thousand to 46 thousand. The Ministry also noted that a new era has begun in road transport with sister country Azerbaijan.
Turkey and Azerbaijan Land Transport Joint Commission delegations met in Istanbul on 24-25 June 2021. The meeting was chaired by Murat Baştor, General Manager of Transport Services Regulation, of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure on behalf of the Turkish delegation, and Habib Hasanov, Head of the Road Transport Administration of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and High Technologies, on behalf of the Azerbaijan Delegation. The Ministry informed that the issues of international road transport between the two countries and Caspian crossings were discussed at the meeting and that the studies for the New Road Transport between Turkey and Azerbaijan were started.
The quota of Azerbaijan and Turkey uniform pass certificate increased from 35 thousand to 46 thousand
The Ministry pointed out that a quota increase was made for 2021 during the meeting between the delegations. Pointing out that the quota of uniform pass documents for bilateral and transit transports between brotherly country Azerbaijan and Turkey has increased by 31 percent from 35 thousand to 46 thousand, the Ministry emphasized that the quota for third country pass documents has increased from 3 thousand 2 to 500 thousand. The Ministry also stated that a total of 3 thousand additional pass documents for 2021 to be used by Turkish transporters were received during the meeting and sent to the border gates.
Work has started for the New Road Transport between Turkey and Azerbaijan
The Ministry noted that after the meeting, the delegations started working on a new agreement between Turkey and Azerbaijan to replace the Bilateral Road Transport Agreement signed in Ankara in November 1992. Stating that during the meeting, the Azerbaijani side provided information on the fees charged for dangerous goods and out-of-gauge transportation and the improvements to be made in the city entrance tax, the Ministry underlined that they expect the bill submitted to the Azerbaijani parliament to be approved and put into effect soon. Expressing that Ro-Ro transportations were also discussed at the meeting, the Ministry emphasized that the studies to be carried out for the optimization of costs were discussed.
