TCDD General Manager Ali İhsan Uygun and his accompanying delegation attended the commemoration ceremony held for the railway workers who were martyred by the pkk terrorist organization in 1996 at Malatya Demiriz station within the framework of the "Safety Culture and Awareness Meeting" program.

On August 12, 1996, eight terrorists, two of them women, who are members of the separatist terrorist organization pkk, attacked Demiriz Station at around 23:00 and were on duty; Our personnel named Kubilay Fidan, Aziz Ekici, İsmail Berber, Abuzer Sağnak, Bedrettin Gümüstepe and İsmail Erygit, and citizens named Halil İbrahim Yavan and Cuma Çiçek who were at the station, were killed.

The Qur'an was read in memory of the martyrs, a sapling was planted for each martyr and a nursery was created.

At the commemoration ceremony of the martyrs, the message of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu was read. In his message, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “I commemorate with mercy our 12 brothers who were martyred in the treacherous attack on our Demiriz Train Station in Sivas's Kangal District, Akçaşehir Village on 1996 June 8.

Despite the twenty-five years that have passed, our pain is as fresh as the first day.

I attach great importance to this sapling planting organization organized by the Republic of Turkey State Railways to keep the memory and names of our martyrs alive.

The fact that you are planting saplings on behalf of our martyrs is the best response that can be given to treacherous organizations.

We know very well that for 165 years, we have given our blood and lives for this land along with our sweat.

Crossing the impassable mountains with tunnels, deep valleys with bridges and viaducts, and reuniting people with their loved ones, together with our brothers who have braided the four corners of our country with iron nets, gives us enthusiasm for new endeavors.

Railways, beyond contributing to the economy and social life of these lands, is a transportation system that has historical, strategic and vital importance.

Although treacherous terrorist organizations want to take actions against the development of our country, we have declared a mobilization for the development and development of our country and we continue to work day and night.

On this occasion, I once again commemorate our martyrs of Demiriz, veterans and veterans with gratitude and gratitude, together with our 22 railroad martyrs who lost their lives in such treacherous attacks. " said.

Making a speech at the commemoration ceremony of the martyrs, TCDD General Director Ali İhsan Uygun said, “On August 12, 1996, eight bandits, two women, members of the separatist terrorist organization pkk, attacked our Demiriz Station at around 23:00 and were on duty; Our personnel named Kubilay Fidan, Aziz Ekici, İsmail Berber, Abuzer Sağnak, Bedrettin Gümüstepe and İsmail Eryigit and our citizens named Halil İbrahim Yavan and Cuma Çiçek who were at the station were murdered. We are together to commemorate and remember our heroes who passed away in the prime of their lives but who made us hold our heads high because they were martyrs.

This hostility, which has not ceased since the first day we came to Anatolia, continues as a threat to us despite the passing of a thousand years, and the army of traitors such as the separatist terrorist organization PKK and Fetö is also a servant to the enemies.

Dear brothers and sisters, terrorism is the enemy of strong Turkey. The heroic railwaymen who have worked for 165 years to make these lands a homeland, shed sweat and fell martyrs when the time comes, are the enemies of all terrorist organizations, especially the treacherous PKK. That's why 24 of our railwaymen were killed by the terrorist organization pkk at various times.

This nation, each of whom is Mehmetçik, gives their lives for their country, from their teachers, engineers, tradesmen, workers, but they do not drop their flag to the ground. Our brothers from Akçaşehir, who are hosting us at the moment, did not drop our glorious flag and gave the treacherous PKK the answer it deserves. Upon the gunshots heard in the village that night, the children of Akçaşehir homeland rushed to help with their hunting rifles, and the traitors who killed the babies fled from the scene as always. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my heroic compatriots from Akçaşehir, who risked their lives for their country.

We have a duty to reunite our beloved nation with their loved ones by increasing the demand for railways. I express this duty by knowing it as sacred; Sometimes we lay rails, we drill mountains, we open tunnels, we build bridges for kilometers, we bring Anatolian lands together with a high-speed train, sometimes we run to martyrdom in order to defend our station and our way.

My dear friends, we want to create a small grove here in memory of our Demiriz Martyrs. May the saplings, which we will soon bring together with the soil, be the contract of our love for you and our country. As our Honorable President stated, "The one who loves and runs does not get tired"

I would like to thank you, my esteemed brothers, who attended our ceremony with these feelings, I commemorate all our martyrs with mercy in the person of our Demiriz Train Station Martyrs, and I express my heartfelt gratitude to our veterans and their esteemed families.” said.
