The Hatay Sea Bus (HADO) project, which will contribute greatly to Hatay's trade, tourism and economy, is coming to an end. Final preparations are being made at the port, whose construction has been completed in Arsuz Madenli.

After the completion of the terminal, passenger lounge, customs area and security buildings in the port, X-ray devices and auxiliary apparatus were installed that will allow citizens to travel safely.

In addition, 6 pier bollards, 12 fenders (ships anchor), diesel and electric fire pumps, fire hydrant circuit and life buoys took their places in the port.

Bulent Ok, Deputy Secretary General of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, made statements about the preparations made and the latest situation.

Stating that with the implementation of the project, there will be an increase in the number of tourists coming to Hatay and the socio-cultural life of the city will increase, Ok said, “We have been carrying out our work since the first day within the scope of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Rules and in accordance with the safety requirements determined by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). We fulfill the requirements of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Commerce, General Directorate of Customs for our facility to be declared a Sea Border Gate. In line with the demands of the General Directorate of Coastal Safety, the necessary lighthouses and other equipment were procured, their inspections were completed and their certificates were obtained.

Stating that they also submitted the Emergency Response Plan to the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, Ok said, “In the first place, we plan to make a reciprocal voyage to the Famagusta port of the TRNC. We will be able to carry about 330 passengers on one of our ships. The Hatay leg of the project is complete. However, the port of Famagusta, which was quarantined for 15 days due to the epidemic, should be opened to transportation. HADO is beyond being a ship, it is an interaction and development project with cultural, commercial, artistic, historical, economic, social and universal values. It is our biggest dream to enlarge HADO and take it to many more ports.”

HBB President Assoc. Dr. Lütfü Savaş also frequently states that HADO, which is of great importance for the fluctuation of the Turkish flag in the Mediterranean, will begin its expedition in the summer months.
