Minister Karaismailoğlu attended the 5G Domestic Products Launch Meeting, where the products developed under the End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Project will be introduced.
Karaismailoğlu said, “Despite all the negative conditions of the pandemic, we worked day and night on the road to 5G for our country's goals. 5G networks in particular; We know that it will be effective in industry, health services, remote instant intervention and virtualization of media and social activities. Domestic and national products will be developed in 5G technology," he said.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu attended the 5G Domestic Products Launch Meeting, where the products developed within the scope of the End-to-End Domestic and National 5G Project will be introduced. Information Technologies Authority Ömer Abdullah Karagözoğlu and Deputy Minister Ömer Fatih Sayan also attended the meeting. Stating that the transportation and communication sectors are at the center of life socially and economically, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Within the scope of the 'End-to-End Domestic and National 14G Communication Network Project', which was initiated with the participation of our 3 companies and 5 mobile operators that are members of the Technology Cluster and supported by TÜBİTAK, it is critical for 5G infrastructures. In the process of developing core network, base station, 5G-specific management, service and operational software products with domestic and national effort and hard work, we have passed an important threshold.” Karaismailoğlu made the first connection with 5G technology.
“In 2020, the Turkish IT sector grew by 15,6%.”
Pointing out that the importance of electronic communication service is seen once again during the pandemic period, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “In this process, we were able to carry out our education, health and communication activities with our strong fixed and mobile infrastructures in our country without any significant problems in communication services. Our total internet subscriptions reached 66 million, of which approximately 82,4 million are mobile internet. In our country, the number of machines connected via mobile networks, that is, the number of communication subscribers between machines, is over 6,5 million. Infrastructure investment, which reached 2020 billion TL in 16,7, increased by approximately 30 percent compared to the previous year. Life has flowed largely thanks to our technology investments. This pandemic process in the world has actually positively affected the need for information and communication and the speed of development in the sector according to this need. In 2020, we recorded a growth of 15,6 percent in the information sector.
“5G will increase internet speed 100 times.”
Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the countries that want to have a say in the world attach special importance to 5G technology and said:
“Unlike its predecessors, 5G will increase internet speed up to 100 times. The electronic communication sector will almost jump in size in the current voice, data and image transmission. 5G technology will accelerate developments and innovations in areas such as the internet of things, artificial intelligence, machine-to-machine communication (M2M), machine learning. With 5G, which has a more effective and powerful cyber security system, data analytics will gain more importance, and the importance of coding and design will increase. With its almost instant communication capability, brand new business lines such as autonomous vehicles and remote surgery will emerge.”
Karaismailoğlu continued as follows: “5G and beyond technologies will almost reshape industries where communication technologies have not converged very much before and therefore called 'vertical sectors'. 5G networks in particular; We know that it will be effective in industry, health services, remote instant intervention and virtualization of media and social activities. In other words, technologies expressed as virtual reality will radically change our lives. These applications we are talking about are just examples… Today, it is possible to make real what humanity's vision, imagination and determination envision, thanks to technology. New technologies such as autonomous systems, artificial intelligence and blockchain will find more and more uses in our lives with 5G.”

Minister Karaismailoğlu emphasized that the public and private sectors have important duties to develop these technologies and services with domestic and national opportunities, and that they should continue to contribute to exports and employment by producing imported hardware and software products with domestic facilities. Pointing out that in order to reach their 2023, 2053, 2071 targets, Karaismailoğlu pointed out that they need to produce high-tech, high value-added products, and said, “We have displayed a good example of public-private sector cooperation with our companies coming together. Despite all the negative conditions of the pandemic, we worked day and night on the road to 5G for our country's goals. I see the End-to-End Domestic and National 5G project being carried out as an important example of this unity. In the domestic and national 5G project, the products that will be demoed soon become commercial products, which will contribute to the formation of an important ecosystem for our country. At the same time, it will make significant contributions to our economy with its import substitution effect and export revenues. Within the scope of the "End-to-End Domestic and National 14G Communication Network Project", which was initiated with the participation of 3 companies that are members of the Technology Cluster and 5 mobile operators and supported by TÜBİTAK, the core network, base station, 5G-specific management, service and operational software products that are critical for 5G infrastructures. We have left behind an important threshold in the process of developing our company with domestic and national effort and sweat. In the next period, we must use the time ahead in the most efficient way to develop these products and to use them both in our domestic and foreign markets.”
