The Golden Goblet Awards of the 24th Shanghai International Film Festival were announced yesterday evening. Russian director Alexey Viktorovich Kozlov's "The Conscience" won three awards in the festival's main competition, including best screenplay, best camera, and artistic contribution.
“The Concience” was praised by the jury chaired by Chinese director Huang Jianxin.
According to the jury, “The Conscience” represents the Russian literary tradition of critical realism. The highest awards at the Golden Goblet Awards, the best film and the special jury prize, went separately to the Chinese film “Manchurian Tiger” (Chinese: Dong Bei Hu, English: Manchurian Tiger) and the Malaysian film “Barbarian Invasion.”
In addition, Iranian film “The Contrary Route”, which tells how young filmmakers coped with the difficult situation, won the Golden Goblet Award for Best Director and Best Actor. The natural performance of actress Pouyan Shekari-Kiani in the movie won the jury's praise.
The best actress award was given to actress Marzena Manteska for her role in the Polish film “Amateurs”.
The European animated film “Even Mice Belong in Heaven” won the Golden Goblet Award for Best Animation. Mexican film “Sisyphus” won the Golden Goblet Award for the best documentary.
The Chinese sci-fi short film “Double Helix” (Chinese: Sheng Ming Zhi Ge, English: Double Helix) won the Golden Goblet Award for best live-action short film; The French animated short film “Folie douce, folie dure” won the Golden Goblet Award for best animated short film.
More than 400 films from around the world will be screened during this year's SIFF.
A total of 13 Chinese and foreign new films were nominated for the main competition section of the Golden Goblet Awards.
113 films from 4 countries submitted applications to the festival, which has increased significantly compared to previous periods.
Established in 1993, the Shanghai International Film Festival is the only international category A film festival in China. This year's film festival featured a number of forums, film projects, and events such as the Belt and Road film week.
