Ulus Modern Bazaar, which was destroyed after the fire in 2003, will be rebuilt with the "Ulus Modern Culture and Art Center National Architecture" competition organized nationally by the Department of Culture and Natural Heritage.

ULUS WILL BE THE CENTER OF CULTURE AND ART AGAIN

With the architectural project competition published in the Official Gazette and opened as of April 12, it is aimed to turn Ulus into a center of culture and art events.

Emphasizing that they are planning to build a qualified and modern structure that will bring pluralistic, participatory and inspiring meeting spaces to the Capital under the name of “Ulus Modern Culture and Art Center”, and that they aim to make Ulus the center of culture and art as it was in the past years and even since the Roman period, Kültür and Bekir Ödemiş, Head of Natural Heritage Department, gave the following information:

“With the request of our President Mansur Yavaş, we started the competition process and went to the announcement. We put the definition of 'Ankara with the competition' in its name. Our first competition was the 'Place of Gratitude and Remembrance for Healthcare Professionals' competition for our healthcare professionals who worked devotedly during the pandemic process and even lost their lives, and our contest was concluded. Our second competition will be our architectural project competition for the 'Ulus Modern Art and Culture Center', which will replace the Modern Bazaar that burned down in Ulus in 2003. The total award amount of our competition, of which juries are known, is 550 thousand TL. We formed the whole process together with the Academic Board formed within our municipality. We can say that this is a first for the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. Ulus is the heart of Ankara and an important place that has hosted many civilizations. Over the years, it has lost this feature. We find this project important as it will pave the way for other cultural and artistic events in Ulus. "
