The World Bank will provide support for the implementation of the "Grave Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar" railway construction project.

According to the statement made by the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov met with World Bank's Vice President for Europe and Central Asia, Anna Bjerde, who is continuing his contacts in the country, and discussed the issues of cooperation between the parties.

Commenting on regional integration and the re-development of Afghanistan, Bjerde stated that the bank is ready to provide financial support for the implementation of the "Tomb Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar" railway construction project.

Bjerde noted that the bank, which will make efforts to involve other international financial institutions in this project, also wants to finance field studies related to the project and provide technical assistance for the development of pre-feasibility studies of the project.
