Adil Karaismailoğlu, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, visited the Northern Marmara Motorway on Thursday, May 20th. Stating that the section between Hasdal Junction and Habipler Junction will be put into service on Friday, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the Northern Marmara Motorway was designed as a whole with its connection roads, bridges, viaducts and tunnels that are easily accessible from every point of Istanbul and Marmara Region.
Karaismailoğlu said that they started the construction of the highway in 2013; Odayeri-Paşaköy, including Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge in 2016, Paşaköy-Mecidiye in 2017, Hüseyinli-Kömürlük, Yassıören-Odayeri and Kurtköy Port Connection in 2018 Road, connection roads with Çatalca-Yassıören, Istanbul Park-2019, Istanbul Park-1 intersections, Gebze OSB Junction, Balçık-2 and Balçık-1 intersections, Harbor and Sevindikli intersections in 2, Kınalı-Çatalca in 2020 He stated that a total section of 1 km, consisting of Sevindikli Junction-TEM Izmit-1 Junction and connection roads and TEM Izmit-389,3 Junction-TEM Akyazı Junction, has been put into service.
Explaining that the 10,2th section with a length of 7 km, the remaining 9,1 km part between Habibler Junction and Hasdal Junction will be completed and put into service; He added that there are a total of 1 art structures in the Habibler Junction - Hasdal Junction section, including 6 double tube tunnel, 4 viaducts, 1 bridges, 8 overpass, 14 underpasses and 34 culverts.
Minister Karaismailoğlu; He said that with the opening of the Habipler and Hasdal section to traffic, the 400-kilometer-long highway will be put into service on Friday, May 21, after the ceremony to be held with the honor of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Stating that the highway will provide the connection between Istanbul Airport and the city center, Minister Karaismailoğlu said, “Northern Marmara Highway; It connects North and South Marmara to Western Anatolia by joining Kınalı-Tekirdağ-Çanakkale-Savaştepe Highway and Istanbul-İzmir Highway. "In the Northern Marmara Region, the main transportation arteries in the east-west direction will be separated from each other with regional, intercity and international traffic, thus increasing the service quality and safety in transportation."
Karaismailoğlu said, "In addition, thanks to this highway, 1 billion 650 million TL will be saved from time, 830 million TL from fuel, 2 billion 480 million TL will be saved annually, carbon emission will be reduced by 350 thousand 960 tons." Underlining that they see each transportation project as an 'environmentally friendly project' and act with an environmentally friendly approach from the design stage to the operation processes, Karaismailoğlu; He also stated that they will continue their strategic investments in the field of freight, human and data transportation without slowing down.
