ŠKODA introduced the fourth generation of FABIA, its popular model in the B segment, with its online world premiere. Being the largest car in its segment, FABIA has further increased its claim with increased comfort features and many advanced safety and assistance systems.
The new FABIA, built on the modular MQB-A0 platform, has been renewed by taking the ŠKODA brand's high functionality, large interior volume and Simply Clever features further. FABIA, a model in the ŠKODA product range for over 20 years, has evolved with its last generation and has been developed in every field. With more than 22 million sales in 4.5 years, FABIA has become one of the basic models of the ŠKODA brand. FABIA stands out with the title of being the most produced ŠKODA model after OCTAVIA.
An athletic design language in the new FABIA
The fourth generation ŠKODA FABIA, developed in every detail, has grown and adapted the existing design language to the new generation. The new FABIA has been transformed into a more dynamic and emotional model with its athletic stance, sporty lines and sharp front and rear lights. With the transition to the modular MQB-A0 platform, the interior and exterior of the vehicle have grown even more.
While the striking stance of ŠKODA's crystal design details was carried forward, the characteristic triangle of the Czech flag was emphasized along with the body lines on the front doors. The sharp-edged headlights with LED technology are combined with the ŠKODA's distinctive growing front grille.
The fourth generation ŠKODA FABIA has been made larger inside and out while maintaining its weight compared to the first three generations. With a length of 4,108 mm, it has crossed the four-meter limit for the first time. The new FABIA is 111 mm longer than the current generation. Wheelbase increased by 94 mm to 2,564 mm, while its width reached 48 mm with an increase of 1,780 mm. The already spacious FABIA cab with its increased dimensions has become even more assertive.
ŠKODA also achieved a significant increase in the FABIA's trunk by 50 liters. Thus, it carried the largest luggage volume in its segment even further. New FABIA, which has 380 liters of luggage volume, offers 1.190 liters of volume when the seats are folded.
While developing the FABIA model, ŠKODA also carried out extensive aerodynamics studies to make the vehicle quieter and fluid. With aerodynamically optimized wheels and actively adjusted cooling louvers under the front bumper, the new FABIA has achieved a wind resistance coefficient of 0.28, a record in the B segment. Intelligent cooling louvers reduced fuel consumption by 120 liters per 100 kilometers while traveling at a speed of 0.2 km / h.
More comfort in a larger cab
The new FABIA's cabin has the perfect balance between emotional design and ergonomics. With its visually free standing characteristic, the infotainment system can reach up to 9.2 inches. With the latest technology systems, FABIA's digital gauges can be preferred as 10.25 inches for the first time. Thanks to the "Digital Display Panel", drivers will be able to choose the one that suits their style from five different themes.
With its 94 mm longer wheelbase than the previous generation, the new FABIA has more living space, especially for rear passengers. The increased feeling of spaciousness in the FABIA has been carried further with the renewed cabin details. With new colors, ambient lighting and comfort features, FABIA combines versatility and stylish design. The new generation multifunctional steering wheel, on the other hand, enhances driving pleasure, optionally with sporty three-spoke gear shift paddles for the DSG gearbox.
Many features such as heated windshield and heated steering wheel found in higher segment vehicles will also be preferred in FABIA. In addition, the new generation FABIA will also feature dual-zone Climatronic air conditioning. With the air ducts placed behind the center console, comfort is also increased for the rear passengers.
More Simply Clever features
In addition to its large interior volume, the new FABIA also increases practicality with its ever-always Simply Clever smart solutions. In the new FABIA it offers 43 rational solutions, five of which are completely new and eight for the first time in FABIA. In this way, FABIA stands out with touches that make daily use easier.
A ŠKODA classic, there are details such as an ice scraper with rubber depth gauge on the fuel tank cover, parking ticket holder in the A column, umbrella inside the driver's door, as well as completely new Simply Clever features.
The center console features a clip for a credit card or parking ticket, and an elastic band for pen holder. The removable cup holder between the front seats provides more flexibility, while the area above the transmission tunnel can be used as a storage compartment for small items for rear passengers. Flexible and folding compartments in the trunk, foldable sun visor for the optional panoramic roof, smartphone storage compartments, USB-C inputs in the interior rearview mirror are just a few of the features that increase the usefulness.
Low fuel consumption, more range
The new generation ŠKODA FABIA will offer low fuel consumption with more engine options. FABIA will feature five EVO generation engine options. The engines, each complying with the Euro 6d emission standards, have a volume of 1.0 liter and 1.5 liter. 3-cylinder 1.0-liter engines can be chosen in 65 PS, 80 PS, 95 PS and 110 PS powers. The 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine will have 150 PS power and 250 Nm of torque. According to the new FABIA engine options, it will be paired with a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. At the same time, FABIA can be purchased with an optional 50-liter fuel tank, thus providing a range of more than 900 kilometers compared to the WLTP cycle.
New assistance systems and nine airbags
The new ŠKODA FABIA offers active and passive safety measures developed as one of the safest cars in its segment.
FABIA's torsional stiffness has also been increased with the advantages of the modular MQB-A0 platform. In addition to superior features, FABIA includes Travel Assistant, Park Assistant and Maneuver Assistant for the first time. While Travel Assistant provides automatic guidance support, it can be activated with only one button. Adaptive Cruise Control, which can work up to 210 km / h, automatically adjusts its speed according to the vehicle in front. Lane Assistant helps FABIA stay in lane with automatic guidance when needed. Improved Blind Spot Detection System warns the driver against vehicles that are 70 meters away. Park Assist works up to 40 km / h and directs the steering automatically. Maneuver Assistant can detect obstacles in front of and behind the vehicle during parking and apply automatic braking. Traffic Sign Recognition, Pedestrian and Cyclist Front Assist are also new features of FABIA.
At the same time, the new FABIA offers driver and front passenger, curtain airbags and front side airbags as standard. With optional driver knee and rear side airbags, the safety level can be further enhanced and equipped with nine airbags.
