The Izmir Opera House, built on an area of 429 thousand square meters with an investment of 25 million lira and whose project was determined by a national architectural competition, will be one of the few opera houses in Europe with its architectural features and technical equipment. Reminding that İzmir is an important culture and art city where permanent works are produced in every branch of art in its thousands of years of history, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer said, “We are proud to bring an international opera house to our city. Reinforced concrete works have been completed in 4 blocks in Izmir Opera House, which will be one of the most important art buildings in Europe. In one block of the building where mechanical installation works are underway, reinforced concrete works are continuing.It has been reported that 40 percent of the construction work in the opera building has been completed and that steel construction, electrical and mechanical, stage mechanics and facade works will continue throughout the year. İzmir Opera House is planned to open its doors in February 2023.

In this magnificent building, the main hall and stages with a capacity of 1435, a small hall and stage with a capacity of 437, rehearsal halls, an opera section, a ballet section, a 350-audience courtyard-open performance area, workshops and warehouses, main service units, administrative department, general facilities. There will be a technical center and a car park with a capacity of 525 vehicles. The facility has a construction area of approximately 73 thousand 800 square meters.
