At the meeting on population organized by the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCP), measures to be taken to increase the young population were discussed. The meeting, chaired by Xi Jinping, Secretary General of the CCP Central Committee, discussed the measures to be taken to prevent the aging of the population during the implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).
At the meeting, the third child policy and the measures supporting the said policy; It was pointed out that it would help to improve the population structure, reduce the aging rate of the population and protect human resources advantages.
According to the results of the 2020 census announced in May in China, the country with the most populous population in the world, the population of the country was announced as 1 billion 410 million. The population growth rate was 5,4 percent, the lowest level since 1960. Ning Jizhe, official of the National Bureau of Statistics, said that the change in China's fertility policy has achieved positive results, but the aging population continues to put pressure on the balanced growth of the population in the long run. In the distribution of the population, the number of individuals between the ages of 15-59 decreased by 7 percent, while the population over the age of 60 increased by more than 5 percent.
