The Turkey stage of the East-West Friendship and Peace Rally Europa Orient Rallye, supported by TÜVTÜRK, has started. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Faruk Kaymakcı, Deputy Governor of Istanbul Niyazi Erten and TÜVTÜRK Deputy General Manager Melis Avalin Korkmaz attended the ceremony held in Istanbul Sultanahmet Square.
Nearly 30 teams take part in the rally, which started in Brussels, Belgium this year. The rally, in which only vehicles older than 20 years of age and whose value does not exceed 1.111 Euros can participate, not only draws attention to the importance of vehicle and traffic safety, but also contributes to the promotion of Turkey and its beauties.
The Turkey stage of the 15th Europa Orient Rallye East-West Friendship and Peace Rally, organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the European Union and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, with the support of TÜVTÜRK, started with the start at Istanbul Sultanahmet Square.
At the ceremony attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Faruk Kaymakcı, Deputy Governor of Istanbul Niyazi Erten and TÜVTÜRK Deputy General Director Melis Avalin Korkmaz, the start of the Turkish stage was given on Sunday, May 23 in Sultanahmet Square.
Europa Orient Rallye kicked off from Brussels, the capital of Belgium, on May 16 this year. Participants traveled through the Balkans and came to Turkey. In the Turkey stage, the contestants will follow the Ankara, Cappadocia, Adana, Antalya route after Istanbul, and then on 29 May at Muğla Dalyan, the last stop of the rally.
Speaking at the start of the Turkey stage of the rally, TÜVTÜRK Deputy General Manager Melis Avalin Korkmaz said, “This rally has a special place in the hearts of us, every member of the TÜVTÜRK Family located all over Turkey. The Europa-Orient Rally, which we have been supporting for 9 years, has now become a corporate culture for us. It has always made us happy to support this rally, which brings people from many European countries and different cultures together. However, we would like to emphasize that the biggest source of happiness and pride for us was to contribute to the promotion of our beautiful country, unique culture and hospitable people by supporting this rally under the leadership of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture and Tourism and official institutions of our state ”.
Vehicles with a value below € 1.111 participate
In the rally, only older vehicles over 20 years of age with a value under 1.111 Euro can participate, and teams are not allowed to go on the highway along the route. In the Friendship and Peace Rally, where there is no struggle based on time or speed, the competitors try to fulfill the social tasks determined on the route.
