Don’t Just Dump Your Car Yet
A car is an expensive investment to make. However, there is a limit to the value it can bring and after certain years of wear and tear, it’s bound to give up on you. Once that happens, your car becomes a liability as you will have to find a place to store it but have no use of it. Below are some steps you can take if your car has gone kaput and you aren't sure what to do with it anymore.
Sell it
Believe it or not, there are companies that actually buy your car even if it is not in good working condition. You are probably thinking ‘How can I sell my broken down car?’, and who would actually even buy it?. Let’s say you are in Florida, you can research on the internet for buyers of used or broken down cars. You can choose a buyer that offers you a good value for the car and also provides you the convenience of pick-up service. That way you will not have to hire a tow truck to take your car around in order for it to be sold. Using this method will give you access to some funds from sale as well the car parts will be reused. It’s a win-win situation for you.
Donate It
This is another option that you can choose. However, if your car is completely kaput then you will have to spend some money to at least bring it to a workable condition. There are lots of organizations that help you donate your car to those who need one. You can invest a little in the car and then look for a local NGO or even offer it to someone you know who wants a car but cannot afford it.
Sell Components
If you have been upgrading your car on a continuous basis, then chances are you have added a lot of components that are of value. You can remove those few valuable components and sell them separately. You can sell it to buyers who deal with those specific parts or even sell it online. There are many websites online that deal with used goods. Parts like valuable rims, car batteries, electric gear like GPS, or music systems can all be sold separately. If you have a rare number plate, you can auction that too.
Look For Every Possible Option
If your car still has the ability to move from one place to another, it would be worth considering tweaking it a little and keeping it in use. If you have children or younger siblings, a used car is a great start for them when they want to learn how to drive and get on the road. If the car has an emotional value, you can consider renting a storage unit to store it wherein it will stay safe until you figure out what you want to do with it.
A calm and well-thought step taken will be beneficial in the long run as you won’t have the regret of taking a decision too quickly and losing something that was of value.
