At the meeting, where the representatives of the embassy listened to the demands of the students, packages prepared for Ramadan and containing the tastes Turkish students miss were also presented to the students. Turkish foods such as soudjouk, Turkish delight, bulgur, Turkish coffee and chickpeas, which are difficult to find in the stores in Moscow, were included in the food packages prepared with the help of Turkish companies operating in Russia.
The Turkish students of the Russian National Nuclear Research University (MEPhI) shared their impressions of the meeting and their expectations for the work to be carried out in Turkey's first nuclear power plant.
Semih Avcı, a 5th grade student who is the leader of the Turkish student group, stated that they are grateful for the support provided by the embassy and said, “Distribution of Ramadan parcels is a common tradition in Turkey. Our Embassy organized a similar event last year. In the boxes distributed in the middle of the first wave of the pandemic, there was a content that we could meet all our needs from masks to various food products without leaving the university. "The Embassy regularly invites us to the events it organizes on religious and national holidays."
Hüseyin Talo, one of the students, expressed his happiness for being among the first nuclear engineers to take part in Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant; “The role of nuclear energy in the modern world is growing every day, and more and more countries are starting to realize this. There is also a steady increase in the demand for electricity in the world. Given the global warming threat, we all need to take good care of our planet. "Nuclear energy is the only fixed source that can provide carbon-free energy 7/24, regardless of weather conditions."
Can Berk Kunaç, one of the 5th grade students, stated that he was able to take the decision to participate in this program more easily because he had studied outside of Turkey before coming to Russia and said, “In the future, I will be working in a large-scale international project that will offer me unlimited opportunities for professional development. Although nuclear power plants consume very little fuel, they have the capacity to generate enormous amounts of energy. Without electricity, human progress is unthinkable. I am sure that; Thanks to nuclear energy, Turkey will both progress technologically and achieve economic growth as a result. For this reason, it is a great honor for me to be a part of the team of the first nuclear power plant in our country ”.
