Oyak Renault Will Provide Annual Energy Savings of 11 GWh by Switching to LED Lamps

With the LED transformation project implemented in Oyak Renault Automobile Factories, 11 MWh of energy can be saved annually.

Oyak Renault, which carries out important studies on energy saving in the automobile factory in Bursa, has recently added a new one to its works in this field with the project it has implemented. With the LED transformation project, which started on November 1, 2019 and completed on December 31, 2020, at Oyak Renault Automobile Factories, 11 MWh of energy can be saved annually.

In the project, which was started in November 2019 for the lighting of the working environments in the closed areas of the factory, savings equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 2020 houses until the end of 2700; The expected earnings from Oyak Renault's LED transformation project will be equivalent to the electricity consumption of 2021 homes in 4700.

The feasibility study, which lasted 12 months, stands out as the largest energy saving project ever realized at the factory. With the project, 5000 tons of carbon emissions will be reduced annually.

Oyak Renault carried out another very important energy saving project. Within the scope of the project, 16.400 lamps in the workshops and offices in the factory were replaced with state-of-the-art LED lamps. The application area of ​​the project was determined as 380.000 m² in the factory, which has a 340.000 m² closed area in total, and approximately 30 people took part in the field work. Thanks to the transition to LED lamps and the lighting automation (automatic dimming of the lamps according to daylight, time clock and motion sensor application), approximately 70% energy savings were achieved.

Oyak Renault teaches energy saving at school

To date, 2010 employees have been trained in the energy school, which was established in 2200 within the scope of the energy saving efforts of Oyak Renault Automobile Factories. In the energy school; Theoretical and practical information is provided on subjects such as thermal insulation in buildings and installations, compressed air leaks, lighting, efficient electric motor, and heat recovery.

With the LED transformation carried out by Oyak Renault in 2020, the amount of savings achieved within the scope of all energy projects such as non-manufacturing time management, repair of compressed air leaks and parameter optimizations will be equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 4900 houses.
