Applications continue for the 10th Future of Automotive Design Competition organized by Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OIB) in order to contribute to the increase of exports by developing value-added products and technologies in the automotive sector. This year, a total of 500 thousand TL will be awarded to innovative projects that will make a difference in the sector with the theme of “Solutions in the Mobility Ecosystem”.

OİB has evaluated more than 2012 thousand projects so far, supported 4 projects and awarded 193 projects in the competition it has been organizing since 51. 46 percent of the entrepreneurs who also received incubation support from ITU Çekirdek became incorporated and employed 537 people in total. The total investment amount received by these enterprises, with a turnover of 96 million TL, was 61 million TL.

Applications continue for the 10th Future of Automotive Design Competition organized by Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OIB) in order to contribute to the increase of exports by developing value-added products and technologies in the automotive sector. The Future of Automotive Design Competition, organized by OIB with the support of the Ministry of Trade and under the coordination of the Turkish Exporters Assembly since 2012, will be held online on October 18, 2021 this year. It can apply until September 3, 2021 for the competition that will determine the automotive trends and mobility technologies of the future. The competition will be open to industry professionals, academicians, R&D-Technopark employees, designers, entrepreneurs, freelancers and students, and candidates who are over 18 years old will be able to apply.

The Future of Automotive Design Competition, whose theme this year is “Solutions in the Mobility Ecosystem”, will be awarded a total of 500 thousand TL to innovative projects that will make a difference in the sector. In this context, a prize of 140 thousand TL for the first, 120 thousand TL for the second, 100 thousand TL for the third, 80 thousand TL for the fourth and 60 thousand TL for the fifth will be awarded.

In addition to the cash awards, within the scope of OIB's cooperation with ITU ARI Teknokent, in order for the projects to come to life and to train new entrepreneurs, the projects ranking the highest will be supported at the ITU Çekirdek Early Stage Incubation Center. In addition, entrepreneurs will benefit from many opportunities, from consultancy to prototype, from laboratory to meeting with the industry, in the way of industrialization, and in addition, they will be eligible to compete on the ITU BigBang stage. Thanks to OIB, entrepreneurs will also have the privilege of benefiting from the experience and wide network of the automotive industry.

In addition, among the awards of this year's five finalists who will be awarded a prize in the competition, Patent Registration in cooperation with Adres Patent is among the awards. Five project owners who win the competition will also continue to receive Scholarships for Study Abroad, with the approval of the Ministry of Commerce.

Çelik: "We contribute to making Turkey an R&D center"

With the Future of Automotive Design Competition, OIB's Chairman Baran Çelik stated that in a period where the use of driverless, artificial intelligence, interconnected and electric vehicles is increasingly widespread in the world, Turkey is not only a production center, but also an R&D, Innovation and Design Center and increased exports. We aim to contribute, ”he said.

Projects supported by OIB provided employment for 537 people

OİB has supported 4 projects and awarded 193 projects in the competition where it has evaluated more than 51 thousand projects to date. 46% of the entrepreneurs who also received incubation support from ITU Çekirdek became incorporated and employed 537 people in total. The total investment amount received by these enterprises, with a turnover of 96 million TL, was 61 million TL.

Bursa Uludağ University was the university that submitted the most projects with 40 projects in the Future of Automotive Design Competition, which was organized by OIB for the ninth time with the theme of "Electric Vehicles" in October last year. Among the total of 291 projects, Büyükütech-Forsight and Ömer Orkun Düztaş's project were chosen as the first. In the contest, where successful project owners were awarded 250 thousand lira in total, Batuhan Özcan took the second place with the Syntonym project, and Selen Şenal, the director of the Algae Biodiesel project, took the third place.
