Adil Karaismaioğlu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, stated that despite the restriction of aircraft flights all over the world due to the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19) epidemic, during the 4-month period of this year, an average of one aircraft passes through Turkish airspace every 27 seconds.

Minister Karaismailoğlu said that the investments made in the civil aviation infrastructure and the decisions put into practice made Turkey one of the fastest developing countries in the world in this field.

Karaismailoğlu pointed out that in Turkey, where only Turkish Airlines (THY) organized scheduled flights from two centers to 2002 destinations in 26, today there are flights from 7 centers to 56 destinations in total. He stated that while flying to the flight point, this number reached 2003 destinations in 2 countries with 50 airlines as of the end of last year.

Karaismailoğlu pointed out that there has been a significant increase in the number of passengers traveling by plane in recent years, and reminded that there have been restrictions in air travel due to the Kovid-19 epidemic that has affected the whole world since the beginning of last year.

Türk hava sahasında bu yılın 4 aylık döneminde gerçekleşen transit üst geçişler dâhil uçuş sayısının iç hatlarda 185 bin 156, dış hatlarda 84 bin 201 olduğu

bilgisini veren Karaismailoğlu, “Türkiye’de bu yılın 4 aylık döneminde, üst geçişlerle toplam 385 bin 40 uçak trafiği gerçekleşti. Yani Türk hava sahasından her 27 saniyede bir uçak geçişi oldu. Salgın sebebiyle tüm dünyada havalimanlarındaki yolcu sayısı ciddi oranda azalırken, aldığımız tedbirler sayesinde yolcularımız seyahatlerine, havacılık emniyeti ve uçuş güvenliği içinde devam ediyor.” dedi.

Stating that the outstanding achievements of Turkish civil aviation in the epidemic process are reflected in the reports of the world aviation authorities, Karaismailoğlu said:

“Our Istanbul Airport, which is one of the biggest investments in the history of the Republic, succeeded to be the first in Europe in passenger, aircraft and freight traffic, leaving behind many world giants. Our Istanbul Airport continues these achievements by breaking grounds. All of our other airports have also passed very good tests on epidemic measures. In addition, our country maintains these successes, while leaving Europe's leading air traffic control centers behind, taking first places in air traffic management. "
