The national and original hybrid rocket engine, which is planned to be used in the unmanned vehicle to be sent to the Moon in the 100th anniversary of the Republic, made its first ignition. In the test conducted at Delta V Uzay Teknolojileri A.Ş., the hybrid rocket engine successfully passed its first exam.

Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank stated that he believes that they will achieve the first leg of the lunar mission goal in 2023 and said, “In other words, we will bring our spacecraft to the Moon. In this sense, it is pleasing and proud for us to make the first ignition of the engine here ”.

PRESIDENT ERDOĞAN ANNOUNCED

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared Turkey's National Space Program on February 9. One of the most notable goals of the program was the Lunar mission. Turkey, Ayr want to touch the Moon, using original technologies and its national mission. According to the 2-legged target, a hard landing on the Moon with an unmanned vehicle in 2023 and a soft landing in 2028 will be realized.

VISIT DELTA V

Varank, Minister of Industry and Technology, visited Delta V's Rocket Engine Ignition Facility in Şile, which develops national and unique hybrid rocket engines in order to see the work carried out in line with these goals.

WIDE PARTICIPATION MEETING

The visit at Delta V, a subsidiary of the Presidency Defense Industry Presidency, started with a meeting. Meeting, Industry and Technology Deputy Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacar, Defense Industry Executive Vice President and Delta V Chairman Faruk Yigit, BAYKAR Technical Manager Selcuk Bayraktar, President of TÜBİTAK Hasan Mandal, Turkey Space Agency (TUA) leader Serdar Huseyin Yildirim, TÜBİTAK Institute of Space Technology Director Mesut Gökten, TÜBİTAK SAGE Institute Director Gürcan Okumuş and Delta V General Manager Arif Karabeyoğlu attended the meeting.

WHAT WAS SPECIFIED IN THE MEETING?

At the meeting, while the development work of the spacecraft, which is planned to land hard on the Moon in 2023, was discussed, the ignition systems of hybrid rocket engines, high pressure composite tanks, valves and regulator systems were discussed in detail.

HISTORICAL TEST

At the end of the meeting, the delegation moved to the command center where rocket engines tests were conducted. After the security measures were taken, the countdown for firing was started. At the command of Minister Varank, vertical firing test of the propulsion system of the Hybrid Probe Rocket (SORS), which was first developed by Delta V and would cross the space boundary, was carried out. The second firing was made for the hybrid rocket engine planned to be used in the "Hard Landing on the Moon" mission of the National Space Program in 2023. Tests have been completed successfully. Both engines ran smoothly for the duration as planned.

BRIEFING AFTER TEST

Minister Varank and the accompanying delegation examined the systems in the test area again after the firings and received information about the results of the test.

TWO SEPARATE TESTS

Varank said later that they made two very successful firings; He stated that they performed both the firing of the Probe Rocket System (SORS) and the first ignition of the hybrid engine planned to be used in the Lunar mission.

50 SECONDS IGNITION

Stating that there was a targeted time of 50 seconds in the tests, Varank said, “This 50-second ignition completed successfully. The first trials of the engine that can be used in the lunar mission were successfully made. " he spoke.

WE WANT TO USE ALL THE CAPABILITIES

President Erdogan of Turkey has announced its map 10-year path in space and this roadmap is one of the most important components of the 'Moon Mission' Noting that Varank, "Moon mission in our target in 2023, Turkey's ability to reach the moon its own spacecraft. Here, all the ability in Turkey, we want to use all the capabilities of our company. Delta V is a company belonging to the Presidency of the Presidency of Defense Industries, which operates hybrid rocket engines, which are regarded as a new technology in the world. Our teacher Arif (Karabeyoğlu) carries out all these processes. " said.

WE WANT TO COMMERCIALIZE

Explaining that they witnessed two firings, Varank said, “One of the 635 millimeter probe rocket is the ignition of the engine to be launched next month. At the same time, we have also tested the ignition of a smaller engine that we aim to use in the lunar mission, that is, in space. Turkey in particular their ability to show the whole world in space applications, but also to commercialize this ability, a country wishing to obtain further economic benefits. Therefore, the technologies you develop in this area are very valuable. " he spoke.

A NEW TECHNOLOGY

Stating that liquid oxygen oxidized hybrid engine technology is a new technology that they attach great importance to, Varank stated that they successfully carried out the ignitions and that they were excited and happy in this process. Very worthwhile to invest in Turkey's future and youth minister stressed that they showed a great effort to develop the technology Varank, "an example of the probe rocket engines, I hope we will Sinop fired in May. We plan it to cover significant distances. " said.

WE WILL MEET THE TURKISH FLAG WITH THE MOON

Varank said, “We think we can achieve the first leg of our lunar mission goal in 2023. In other words, we will hopefully bring our spacecraft together with the Moon. We will have brought the Turkish flag to the Moon. In this sense, we are happy and proud to make the first ignition of the engine here. " he spoke.

FULL SUCCESS

Delta V General Manager Arif Karabeyoğlu emphasized that both engines provided the expected performance exactly and said, “We achieved the ignition times we wanted. We got the impulse forces we wanted. We can say that it was a complete success. The tests of the lunar engine will continue to accelerate from now on. Maybe we did one of their first tests. But maybe we will do hundreds of tests. We will ensure the reliability. The probe was not the first test of the rocket. We have done a lot of tests before. But we ran this longest burning, highest performance test. What will happen next? If everything goes well in May, I hope we will launch probes at high altitudes. We tested the rocket engine of the spacecraft that will go to the moon. Step by step, we go to the moon. " said.

The impulse to reach space

On the other hand, the Probe Rocket System hybrid engine developed by Delta V passed the vertical firing test and achieved a total thrust that could reach space. It was learned that "Flight demonstration" will be held with launch tests in the coming months.

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

Sors of one of Turkey's largest rocket system also has the world's most advanced hybrid rocket motor technology, which comprises oxidizing liquid and solid fuels and transferred as an innovative technology.
