KİPTAŞ, a subsidiary of IMM, started an urban transformation in the Siteler Region in Beylikdüzü Gürpınar. In a joint project with Beylikdüzü Municipality, the housing complex consisting of 7 blocks and 260 flats will be renewed. Demolitions started in the project, where a compromise was reached with two-thirds of the beneficiaries. Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık and KİPTAŞ General Manager Ali Kurt went to the demolition site today and informed the beneficiaries.

KİPTAŞ, an affiliate of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), initiated an urban transformation in Gürpınar Siteler region, where approximately two thousand people live in Beylikdüzü. With the protocol signed between KİPTAŞ and Beylikdüzü Municipality on 11 November, the first steps were taken for disaster-oriented transformation in the region. In accordance with the protocol signed, first of all, a reconciliation office was opened and negotiations started between the Beylikdüzü Municipality and the right holders.

TWO THREE MAJORITY ACHIEVED, DESTRUCTIONS STARTED

As of today, with the signatures of 174 beneficiaries, a two-thirds majority has been achieved and the way to sign a pre-contract has been opened. Thereupon, demolition was initiated in the buildings that were declared risky buildings. Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık and KİPTAŞ General Manager Ali Kurt, who went to the demolition site together with the right owners, gave information. At the meeting, where the beneficiaries were informed about the updates regarding the process, KİPTAŞ General Manager Ali Kurt shared with the right holders that the average borrowing amount of 75 thousand TL previously announced was reduced to 55 thousand TL because a better bid was made than anticipated in the construction tender. The Mayor of Beylikdüzü Çalık called on the right owners to compromise quickly, evacuate the risky buildings and start the construction of habitable and safe houses here as soon as possible.

ÇALIK: URBAN TRANSFORMATION IS NOT A MATTER OF POLITICS

Çalık emphasized that the citizens in the region are expecting an urban transformation for a long time and said, "Let's transform areas in need of transformation without an earthquake." Stating that IMM is making a great effort in urban transformation, Çalık continued his words as follows: “This is not a matter of politics. The life of the citizen is at stake here. I do not want to be a mayor looking for his citizen under the rubble. Let's make this an issue above politics. Let's complete this process without making politics here, without confusing the citizens. "

"OUR PRIORITY IS PUBLIC BENEFIT "

On the other hand, Ali Kurt, General Manager of KİPTAŞ, stated that with the settlement office opened, 1,5 percent majority was achieved within 60 months and said:

“As of today, it has achieved a two-thirds majority. Now, in line with the protocol, we will sign a contract with the right holders as KİPTAŞ. The processes related to the project we will implement are at the stage of completion. As KİPTAŞ, an IMM affiliate, our priority is transformation. This was an area that had been dragged on for a long time and could not be taken. We took a step with Beylikdüzü Municipality, and today is an important day. From now on, our goal is to complete the processes and lay the foundations of safe housing here as soon as possible. We look at transformation as life safety, our perception in all areas we are in the field is in this direction. Borrowing is a must for sustainable transformation, but the important thing is that our citizens borrow on affordable terms. With our District Municipality, we are developing an exemplary model here, our priority is the public interest. With the most appropriate model, we are working to move our citizens to solid houses as soon as possible under the most appropriate conditions.

When the site, which has 7 blocks and 260 independent units in total, is transformed, approximately 524 independent units in different apartment types will be produced. The beneficiaries will have their new safe houses, built according to the latest regulations, with social facilities and parking garages, instead of houses that are not resistant to earthquakes.
