In the "Gebze District TEM Highway Bridges Connection Roads 1st Stage Construction Work" project, which will ease the transportation between Kocaeli's Gebze district city center and OIZs, works on the northern side roads are continuing. In the project, where the General Directorate of Highways built bridges, side roads and bridge connection roads by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality, superstructure works are carried out on the side road of the northern side of Tembelova Bridge in the pedestrian area.
SUPERSTRUCTURE WORKS ON THE NORTH SIDE ROAD
In the project, which will eliminate the traffic congestion in the morning and evening hours when it is completed, the works are currently continuing on the Northern side roads. As part of the work, the subbase, PMT, BSK bituminous hot asphalt and binder asphalt layers are laid on the side road on the north side of the Tembelova Bridge. In this area within the scope of the project, stone wall fabrication, electrical infrastructure works, lighting, telecommunication, rainwater and pavement manufacturing are carried out. In addition, instead of the old transformer building that the Metropolitan Municipality Department of Science Affairs had to demolish within the scope of the project, a new transformer building of MOD 5 B type is being built, which will meet the electricity needs of Kirazpınar Neighborhood in the future.
THE CONNECTION ROADS OF TWO NEW BRIDGES ARE BUILT
Within the scope of the project, the North and South side roads of the Connection Road 1 (next to the Tembelova Bridge) and Connection Road 4 (next to the Kirazpınar Bridge) bridges and the bridge connection roads were completed by the Metropolitan Municipality teams together with the infrastructure and superstructure works by the General Directorate of Highways. Asphalt paving, guardrail, earthen wall and pavement fabrications were carried out within the scope of road works of the two new bridges. In addition, a culvert one of which is 9 × 3 meters in size and 55 meters in length and 8 small culverts were built.
KİRAZPINAR AND TEMBELOVA BRIDGES WILL BE DESTROYED
The Metropolitan Municipality and the General Directorate of Highways teams, which have overcome the challenging processes in the project since the day it was started, will realize another important step. Kirazpınar and Tembelova Bridges, which have been serving in the region for years and are insufficient in today's traffic, will be demolished. Instead of these two collapsed bridges, two wider and modern bridges in the form of 2 × 2 will be built by the General Directorate of Highways. The Metropolitan Municipality will build the new bridges, connection roads and side roads to be built instead of the Kirazpınar and Tembelova bridges as in the other two new bridges. In addition, the electric and telecommunication lines on Kirazpınar Bridge, which will be demolished, were passed under the TEM highway to the North with the horizontal drilling work.
BRIDGES, HIGHWAYS, SIDE ROADS ARE BUILDING IN METROPOLITAN
While the bridges within the scope of the project are being built by the Highways, the side roads and participation branches are built by the Metropolitan Municipality Directorate of Science Affairs. Within the scope of the works, a total of 3 thousand 3 meters of side roads are being built, 150 thousand meters in the southern part and 6 thousand 150 meters in the northern part. The length of the road built with participation branches and other roads will be 12 kilometers.
TWO OF 4 NEW BRIDGES ARE CONSTRUCTED
Two of the four new bridges to be built within the scope of the project, which will greatly ease the transportation network in the region, have been built. Tembelova and Kirazpınar Bridges, which currently serve as 2 times 1 at the motorway location between Kirazpınar Neighborhood and Sultan Orhan, İnönü and Arapçeşme Neighborhoods, will be demolished and rebuilt with 2 times 2 lanes. Again, within the scope of the project, the construction work of two new bridges with 2 times 1 lane to the west of Tembelova Bridge and 2 times 1 lane to the east of Kirazpınar Bridge was completed and opened to traffic.
TRAFFIC IN THE OIZ AREA WILL RELAX
In the Tembelova and Kirazpınar bridges on the TEM Highway, which connects Gebze OIZ regions and Gebze district center and the D-100 Highway, there was a heavy traffic especially in the morning and evening hours. Within the scope of the project jointly implemented by Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality with the General Directorate of Highways, one-way continuous, side roads are being built parallel to the TEM Highway in the north and south. Turning points are being built to allow crossings between both side roads. Thus, when the project is completely finished, all signalized intersections on the east-west axis will be eliminated.
