Karaismailoğlu said, “The runway enlargement works that started in our airport last April have been completed. Within the scope of our works, the length of the runway of our airport was extended from 881 meters to 2 meters, and the runway width of 131 meters was increased to 30 meters, ”he said.

Adil Karaismailoğlu, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, visited Zonguldak Çaycuma Airport, which was renewed by enlarging the runway. Speaking to the press, Karaismailoğlu stated that large-type aircraft can use the airport thanks to the enlargement of the runway. Karaismailoğlu said, "The expansion of the runway and passenger capacity of our airport will provide convenience for busy flights from the region, especially to European countries."

"While we were flying to 2003 countries and 50 destinations in 60, today we are reaching 127 destinations in 329 countries"

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that Turkey is going through a historical turn and the importance of transportation and communication has increased gradually in this process and that they are working feverishly to create the infrastructure that will make our country a logistics superpower that dominates the world's commercial corridors.

Karaismailoğlu said, “We have brought Turkey closer to the world from every point. With the investments we have made for airlines, Turkey has become one of the most important transit hubs of the world's airlines. So much so that while we were flying to 2003 countries and 50 destinations in 60, today we are reaching 127 destinations in 329 countries. While the number of countries with which we have signed an air transport agreement is 2003 in 81, today it is 173. In terms of total passenger numbers, Turkey was 2018th in the world and 2019th in Europe in 10 and 5, despite the pandemic, the International Airports Council in 2020. According to the preliminary results announced by the company, it has risen to 9th place in the world and 3rd place in Europe ”.

"Istanbul Airport was declared the busiest airport in Europe during the epidemic period"

Drawing attention to the great responsibility and success of Istanbul Airport during the pandemic period, Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that Istanbul Airport is a reasonable and rational investment.

Karaismailoğlu said, “Istanbul Airport has been declared as the busiest airport in Europe during the epidemic period by the European Navigation Safety Organization. The air cargo sector has also become another area where we have increased our claim. Despite the 22 percent shrinkage in the air cargo industry with the impact of the global covid epidemic, we achieved a growth of around 1 percent thanks to the dynamic capacity solutions we implemented. These results are the result of our investments in airlines, our business experience and our efforts in international integration. We've stopped air travel across the country from being a luxury. Domestic flights, which were made to 2003 destinations with 2 hubs in 26, today take place from 7 centers to 56 destinations, ”he said.

"Zonguldak Çaycuma Airport is the gateway of our Western Black Sea Region to abroad."

Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that the number of active airports will increase to 59 with the completion of Çukurova, Tokat, Rize-Artvin airports, and also stated that the foundations of new terminal buildings have been laid and work has started at Kayseri and Malatya airports. Stating that the new terminal building of Gaziantep Airport will also be put into service in June, Karaismailoğlu said:

“Zonguldak Çaycuma Airport, where we landed today; It serves the provinces of Zonguldak, Bartın and Karabük, and thus becomes the gateway of our Western Black Sea Region to abroad. As a result of the economic growth in our region and the increasing demand of our people, renovation works were required. For this purpose, the runway enlargement works, which started in last April at our airport, have been completed. Within the scope of our works, the length of the runway of our airport was extended from 881 meters to 2 meters, and the runway width of 131 meters was increased to 30 meters. A safe area of 45 meters has been created on both sides of the runway. A safe flight area of 75 thousand 2 meters has been created together with the safety area. "
