This year, a total of 1500 trains passed through the Alashankou border crossing in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in the northwest of China, as part of the China-Europe freight train service.
Alashankou Border Gate Customs Inspection Directorate official Li Hongfeng stated that while the Covid-19 outbreak continues worldwide, China-Europe freight trains, which offer advantages such as high transport capacity, low cost and reaching more countries, have become the favorite of businesses.
Freight trains passing through the Alashankou border crossing reach 13 countries, including Germany, Poland, Belgium and Russia. More than 200 kinds of products are carried on the trains. While cars and spare parts, cotton yarn and wood are brought to China from European countries by freight trains, white goods and daily necessities are sent to these countries from China.
