Application of the Upstream Rule in the Stock Exchange

transactions in the stock market stopped again

Borsa İstanbul A.Ş. made an announcement regarding the implementation of the up step rule.

The statement made to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) is as follows: “With the announcement of Borsa İstanbul A.Ş. dated 23.03.2021 and numbered 2021/22, the upward step rule in short selling transactions brought to the stocks in the BIST-50 Index during the session dated 23.03.2021. It was decided to be implemented in the session dated 24.03.2021. Accordingly, for short-selling stocks, the short-selling transaction can be carried out at a price higher than the last transaction price of the capital market instrument to be short-sold. However, if the last realized price of the capital market instrument subject to short sale is higher than the previous price, the short selling transaction can be made at the last realized price level. Since the sales made during the day without ownership and then closed with the purchases made on the same day are also within the scope of short sales, it is important to show the necessary care and attention to the forwarding of the orders for such sales by marking the short selling option by our investors and investment institutions.
