The Gendarmerie Search and Rescue Battalion is struggling with heart and soul for a voice and a breath in the concrete piles. Their only purpose is to deliver the earthquake victims to the health institution in the fastest way possible.

Battalion was the hero of many miracles with the struggles they waged in the earthquake in Elazig and Izmir.

While baby Yüsra, 2,5 years old in Elazig, and her mother, little Buse opened her eyes to life again in Izmir, the hand reaching out to them was again the JAK teams.

Gendarmerie Search and Rescue teams, which respond to all natural disasters, accidents and disappearances that may occur throughout the country, were established in Ankara in 1999.

TRT Haber witnessed the one-day training and exercises of the Gendarmerie Search and Rescue teams, who continue their duties at the Ankara Gendarmerie Commando Special Security Command (JÖAK).

"We Are Ready To Help Our Citizens In All Disasters"

Gendarmerie Search and Rescue Battalion Component Commander, Gendarmerie Petty Officer Senior Sergeant Gökhan Filiz mentioned that they frequently conduct trainings based on real scenarios to improve themselves.

“As it is known, our country is located in an earthquake zone. That's why earthquakes occur frequently. We are conducting trainings based on real earthquake scenarios in order to reach our citizens who are under debris quickly against possible earthquakes here, and to save them from under the rubble as soon as possible. Here again, we start the rescue activity after determining the location of a citizen who is under the wreckage, first by physical search, then by live detection dogs and then by searching, viewing and listening with our technical devices. We are ready to help our citizens in all kinds of disasters that will occur in the upcoming period. We make every effort and education to improve ourselves. We will continue to make this effort. "

"We exist to be a voice, a breath, a light where hopes are over"

Team personnel Gendarmerie Petty Officer Sergeant Süfeyda Akçoban said that they participated in search and rescue missions with great devotion by replacing citizens, their mothers, fathers, children and siblings who were trapped under the wreckage in search and rescue missions.

“We participated in the search and rescue mission in the past months in the 6,6 magnitude earthquake that occurred off İzmir Seferihisar. During the tenure, we experienced moments where we witnessed completely different emotions and miracles. By putting our citizens under the wreckage in the place of our own mother, father, children and siblings, we have struggled tirelessly to save them in a healthy way. In this process, our hope is that such disasters will not happen again. We exist to be a voice, a breath, a light where hopes are over. However, in the event of a disaster, we will continue to stand by our nation as the JAK battalion. Because we exist to be a voice, a breath and a light where hopes are over "

Fearless Team of Steep Slopes: Mountain Search and Rescue

Gendarmerie Search and Rescue Battalion moves together to the scene in times of need with the Mountaineering Search and Rescue and Underwater Search and Rescue companies within the Gendarmerie Special Security Command in many disasters that occur.

Mountaineering Search and Rescue Component Command adds night to day for the survivors stranded on the mountain slopes.

The only goal of the team that says "Human life is our priority" is to deliver the victims to the health institution as quickly as possible.

They Are In The Hardest-To-Reach Places

The team, which saved 89 citizens from parachute and mountain accidents in the flood disaster in Düzce and Giresun, is also the number one name in search and rescue activities in mountains, canyons, caves and high buildings.
