Labor and democracy platforms in Adana and Mersin made simultaneous press statements in front of the stations to start Adana-Mersin train services.

Reading the joint press text, United Transportation Employees Union (BTS) Adana Branch President Tonguç Özkan and BTS Mersin Provincial Representative Önder Buyer stated that it is important for the citizen to use the right of economic, healthy and qualified transportation and requested that the train services be started as soon as possible.

Reminding that the intercity transportation restriction imposed on March 19, 28 within the scope of the Kovid-2020 measures, started to be gradually lifted on May 4, 2020, “While bus, plane travel and Marmaray, Başkentray, İZBAN and High Speed ​​Train services are restarted, intercity mainline and regional train services are still failed to start ”it was said.

He asked why the Adana-Mersin train services, which are preferred by the public because it is more economical than other means of transportation, and used by many people to go to work, were not started, and asked the public to remedy the grievances experienced by the people.

In the statement, it was pointed out that with the cancellation of the Adana-Mersin train service, where approximately 12 thousand passengers travel daily, citizens working in these provinces were condemned to travel by paying higher fees for vehicles such as minibuses and buses where the risk of contamination is higher.
