Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate was given to 49 airports operated by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure General Directorate of State Airports Authority.

All airports operated by DHMI received Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate within the scope of the Zero Waste Project, which was initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization to prevent waste and use natural resources efficiently and subsequently became legislation.

DHMİ continues to work with the principle of environmentally friendly and sustainable airport management in the field of waste management at airports. With the infrastructure established and other works carried out, all the wastes at the airports are separated at source, stored under appropriate conditions and transported to the disposal facilities and the regular storage areas of the municipalities. Recyclable wastes, on the other hand, are sent for recycling, contributing to the economy and reducing the consumption of natural resources.

With the importance it attaches to the environment, DHMİ, which meticulously fulfills all national and international legislative requirements, keeps all environmental aspects under control with the Carbon-Free Airport Project it runs.
