When is Çukurova Airport opened?
This question has been asked us persistently, I know you are very curious. Under normal circumstances, we foresee a 30-month period for the construction of the airport. However, we will try to train our airport to the third quarter of next year, taking into account the demand of our President to complete the strategic projects carried out on behalf of our country without delay. In this context, we organized a work plan based on 7/24 basis. Thanks to you, I would like to thank our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu and our Minister of Treasury and Finance Lütfi Elvan. We are working with all our strength to serve our citizens as soon as possible.
Could you tell us a little bit about the details of the project?
When our airport is put into service, the trade of the region will increase and tourism will multiply. It is among our plans to make direct flights to both the Middle East and Gulf countries. At the same time, we will give priority to cargo transportation in order to expand e-commerce, which is carried out using the internet infrastructure of our country, taking into account the example of China in the world. Thus, both Mersin and Adana will win.
A train connection will also be provided to the airport. This will pave the way for the multiplication of trade. We will work in an integrated manner with other aspects of Turkey's Mersin Port is one of the largest ports.
