TAV Airports doubled the capacity of Georgia Batumi Airport. The renovated terminal was opened with a ceremony attended by Georgian Prime Minister Iraqi Garibashvili. The expanded terminal will serve 1,2 million passengers per year.

The ceremony was attended by Georgian Prime Minister İrakli Garibaşvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Natia Turnava, TAV Airports Chief Executive Officer Sani Şener, government members and airport managers.
TAV Airports Chief Executive Officer Sani Şener said, “We are pleased to complete the expansion works we started at Batumi Airport before the pandemic, and open our sector deeply in this difficult period. We will continue to offer a safe and comfortable travel experience by welcoming our passengers at the new terminal at the airport, which was closed for about a year due to the pandemic ”.
Georgian Prime Minister İrakli Garibaşvili said, “Tourism is one of the most important sectors for our country and as you know, the pandemic has negatively affected this sector in our country as well as in the whole world. We are working to reduce the damage caused by the pandemic and to prepare for the next. Thanks to these works, we were able to open our country to international flights earlier than anticipated and we can proudly say that Batumi Airport, named after the famous Georgian aircraft designer Alexander Kartveli, will hold an important place in the development of tourism in our country. It is important for the operator TAV to complete this investment in such a short time despite the pandemic and economic crisis. TAV Airports has been operating Georgia's capital Tbilisi and the tourism center of Batumi on the Black Sea coast since 2007. The terminal area at Batumi Airport has been increased from 4 thousand square meters to 8 thousand square meters. The baggage claim area has been expanded and the number of belts increased. The number of check-in counters was increased from eight to 14, and the number of passport control counters was increased from 12 to 20. Duty-free areas operated by ATÜ, food and beverage operated by BTA and primeclass private passenger lounge areas operated by TAV Operation Services were also expanded in the terminal.
Batumi Airport, which served 2007 thousand passengers in 40, when TAV took over the operation, hosted more than 2019 thousand passengers in 600. From the airport, where five airports flew to 2007 destinations in 11, 2019 airlines, including THY and Pegasus, organized flights to 30 different destinations in 30.
