Orange journeys to Izmir begin. Airline companies will now be able to apply for the Orange Circle hygiene certificate, which is given to food and beverage and accommodation businesses by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in partnership with the Izmir Foundation. In line with the new decision taken by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, airline companies will now be able to apply for the Orange Circle certificate given to accommodation and catering businesses. With the new regulation, a new hygiene criteria form for airline companies has been added to the inspection forms.
Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer Stating that they established the Tourism Hygiene Board to keep İzmir tourism alive during the pandemic process and that they started the Orange Circle certificate, which positions İzmir as a healthy and reliable destination, they said, “Despite all the negativities caused by the pandemic, we managed to close the 2020 tourism season in İzmir above expectations. We are now expanding the Orange Circle that we give to accommodation and catering businesses to include airlines so that everyone can reach Izmir safely. We want to increase the measures taken by the companies under the supervision of our Tourism Hygiene Board and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, with the Orange Circle application that we started for flights arriving in Izmir. Thus, the Orange Circle hygiene certificate, which represents the healthy and safe areas in İzmir, will be able to accompany those who come to İzmir from the beginning of their journey.”
Auditing at international standards
The hygiene criteria to be applied to airline companies were created by submitting them to the approval of the Tourism Hygiene Executive Board, which convened online under the coordination of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Foreign Relations and Tourism Department. Composed of 11 main headings and 65 items, the evaluation criteria for airline companies were determined taking into account the standards of the International Aviation Organization (ICAO), the International Air Transport Agencies Association (IATA), the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Civil Aviation Authority (SHGM) applied in our country.
Every stage from ventilation to disinfection is controlled
Among the subjects that airline companies will be inspected; "Precautions to be taken by businesses", "waste management", "What to do if there are suspicious passengers showing Covid-19 symptoms during the flight", "Precautions to be taken during and after the flight", "ventilation, cleaning and disinfection of the aircraft" and "accommodation flights ”. In addition to the audits to be made on the necessary documents, compliance with the hygiene standards of the airline companies' operation areas will also be inspected on site.
Applications are online
Airline companies wishing to obtain an Orange Circle certificate will be able to apply by sending the required documents via yaziisleri@izmir.bel.tr or by personally forwarding them to Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Foreign Relations and Tourism Department's Tourism Branch.
The number of businesses is increasing
The Orange Circle certificate program was implemented in the summer of 19 with the aim of making İzmir a hygienic, healthy and safe destination during the Covid-2020 pandemic process. Orange Circle, which was given as a guarantee that businesses in Izmir provide hygienic service to their visitors, attracted great attention in a short time. The number of businesses that pass the audits of the Izmir Tourism Hygiene Board and are awarded with the Orange Circle certificate by taking the necessary points based on the determined criteria, is increasing day by day.
