Minister Selçuk announced that the period of Cash Wage Support and dismissal prohibition was extended for 17.03.2021 more months as of 2 with the President's Decree published in the Official Gazette.

Minister Selçuk, in his post on his social media account, said, “We continue our measures to protect employment in the normalization process. With the decision of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, we are extending the Cash Wage Support and Termination Restriction for 2 months ”.

Minister Selçuk said, "We continue our measures to protect employment during the normalization process."

Cash Wage Support 47 Lira per day

In order to reduce the effects of the coronavirus (Covid-19) epidemic on economic and social life, the payment made by the Unemployment Insurance Fund and İŞKUR for the persons covered by the temporary article 4447 of the Law No.24 for the period when they are given unpaid leave or are unemployed, is called cash wage support.

With the cash wage support application started in April 2020, a daily payment of 2021 TL is paid for 47,70. Cash Wage Support is paid to the worker for a maximum of 30 days in a month.

No Decision on Short Work Allowance

In the past months, when the decision on cash wage support and dismissal ban was made, arrangements were also made for short-time work allowance. With the decision taken on February 19, 2021, the duration of the short work allowance applied in workplaces within the scope of combating coronavirus was extended until March 31, 2021.

President and AKP Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced in February that the short-time work allowance would be abolished at the end of March. For this reason, in the decision published in the Official Gazette today, there was no statement about the extension of the short work allowance.

Experts warn that with the termination of the application, there may be an increase in the number of unemployed.
