Ankara Metropolitan Municipality continues to implement new transportation projects in order to reduce the traffic density and ensure driving safety due to the increasing population and number of vehicles throughout the city.
Taking action with the vision of the future in transportation, the Metropolitan Municipality will now start renovation works by increasing the number of lanes on the Fatih Bridge, which is located in Keçiören district and has been experiencing traffic density for years. Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, who made the first announcement to the capitalists through their social media accounts, said, “We are taking action to rebuild the Keçiören Fatih Bridge. We will take the 4-lane bridge to 8 lanes and end the chronic traffic ordeal. Thanks to our project that we will be tendered this year, Keçiören traffic will breathe after years ”.
THE NEW FATIH BRIDGE WILL CONSIST OF 8 LANES
Fatih Bridge, which serves as 2 departures and 2 arrivals, will be demolished gradually and will consist of 4 lanes, 4 departures and 8 arrivals.
Thanks to the Fatih Bridge, which is planned to be 900 meters long and has 19 spans and will be rebuilt, both the accumulation will be prevented and the crossings will be safer.
THE LIFE OF THE BRIDGE WILL EXTEND AND CONTINUOUS TRAFFIC FLOW WILL BE PROVIDED
According to the inspection data, the Metropolitan Municipality, which decided to renew the Fatih Bridge due to the damages and the decrease in the structural life of the bridge over time, will extend the life of the bridge and provide a more comfortable ride.
Thanks to the road arrangements to be made in the direction of Samsun-Konya Road, and Dışkapı-Kazım Karabekir Street, especially in the direction of Keçiören, the traffic flow will be made uninterrupted.
ADDITIONAL BRIDGE TO SANATORIUM STREET
By enabling the vehicles coming from the Sanatoryum Caddesi route to cross the Fatih Bridge with an additional 135-meter-long and 2-lane bridge, the accumulation of traffic from Basin Caddesi will be prevented.
With the arrangement to be made at the sanatorium intersection, a roundabout with a diameter of 70 meters will also be created, and thus drivers will have easier access.
Within the scope of the renovation works to be carried out under the coordination of the Department of Science, it is planned to launch a construction tender in 2021 for the project that will reduce the traffic density on the entrance and exit route of Keçiören district.
