Michelin, the world's largest tire manufacturer, has added a new one to its environmentally focused approach. Aiming to zero carbon emissions in the shipping industry, Michelin signed a maritime transport commitment with Neoline.

Michelin, the world's largest tire manufacturer, reached an agreement with Neoline to reduce carbon emissions in its logistics operations. With this collaboration, which promises innovation in the field of carbon-free transportation, it is aimed to reduce carbon emissions by 2030% by 15 in the shipping industry. Just like the Michelin Group's facilities with the goal of reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2050, Michelin plans to experiment with new solutions to decarbonise its logistics operations.

Carbon emissions will be reduced by 90%

For Neoline's carbon-free shipping services, clean and renewable wind energy is used as the main propulsion power on 4200 m long cargo ships with 2 m136 wide sails. This innovative and unique solution, open to all seafarers, will reduce the carbon emissions associated with transatlantic sea freight transport by 90%.

Neoline plans to open its transatlantic line in 2023 with a ship to be operated for the first time. With a second ship planned for a year later, the Michelin Group will gradually entrust at least 50% of the group containers transported to this line to Neoline.
