Konya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Uğur İbrahim Altay met with the municipality employees who go to work by bicycle in summer and winter due to the "World Winter Cycling to Work Day" celebrated since 2015.

Mayor Altay, who came to the Metropolitan Municipality Mevlana Culture Center where the program will be held, said that they brought the technical infrastructure for bicycle use to a very good point in Konya and the length of the bicycle paths reached 550 kilometers. Mayor Altay shared the information that they will build 87 kilometers of new bicycle path with their new planning.

Mayor Altay said, “We would like to solve the problematic points especially in the periphery of the center. Thus, we hope the number of our friends who come to work by bicycle like you increase. In addition, one of the most important problems is the issue of bicycle parking. We are preparing places for bicycles in all our parking lots. Again, our friends are working on a fully automatic parking lot. " said.

Noting that the bicycle paths are not reserved parking areas, Mayor Altay said, “These are safe areas for the use of bicycles. Everyone living in our city uses these roads. On this occasion, we expect all people from Konya to be sensitive about this issue. " used the expressions.

Emphasizing that the only way to solve the traffic problem in metropolitan cities is to enable people to travel by mobile, Mayor Altay said, “Bicycle is the number one in this regard. Many cities around the world have solved this problem with investments made in this regard. Konya, a city in Turkey, much ahead in this sense. Your number today also shows this. I thank you all on behalf of our city for your environmentalist approach. Let's continue to use bicycles for both our health and our city. I hope your numbers increase. Congratulations on your World Winter Cycling to Work Day. " said.
