Republic of Turkey Ministry of Interior General Directorate of Security Attacks laser warning receiver and electronic warfare systems equipped with first T129 helicopter took delivery of Phase 2 of the ceremony. The first of 9 T129 ATAK helicopters developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and produced for the General Directorate of Security (EGM) was delivered.

The handover ceremony was attended by the President of the Turkish Grand National Defense Commission, İsmet Yılmaz, and the President of the Presidency Defense Industry Prof. Dr. Mr. İsmail Demir, Deputy Minister of National Defense Mr. Şuayip Alpay, TUSAŞ General Manager Prof Dr. Mr. Temel Kotil, Deputy General Directors of Police Mr. Selami Hüner, Mr. İbrahim Kulular, Mr. Resul Holoğlu, Head of Aviation Department Mr. Uygar Elmastaşı, Head of Media Public Relations and Protocol Department Mr. Levent Eke and Aviation Department staff attended.
Police General Manager Mehmet Aktaş said, “We are proudly including the first of our 2022 T-9 Attack Helicopters, which we will receive by the end of 129, in the fleet of our Aviation Department. Our helicopters will be assigned as a mobile fleet in the provinces of the region, primarily in Diyarbakır, Van, Şırnak and Hakkari.
The T101 ATAK helicopter, whose tail number is “EM-129 ″, will be actively used by the Aviation Units of the General Directorate of Security.
It is thought that T129 ATAK helicopters owned by the General Directorate of Security will be used in terrorist operations. Entering into hot clashes in operations conducted jointly with the Turkish Armed Forces and the Gendarmerie General Command, the EGM will use its own T129 Atak helicopter in the operations it participates in.
Qualification tests of ATAK FAZ-2 helicopter were successfully completed in December 2020
The first flight of the ATAK FAZ-2 helicopter was successfully carried out at TAI facilities in November 2019. The FAZ-129 version of the T2 ATAK, equipped with laser warning receiver and electronic warfare systems, successfully performed its first flight in November 2019 and qualification tests were initiated. The first delivery of ATAK FAZ-2 helicopters is planned to be made in 2021.
Within the scope of the T129 ATAK project carried out by the Presidency Defense Industry Presidency, at least 59 ATAK helicopters produced by the Turkish Aerospace Industry-TUSAŞ have been delivered to the security forces. TAI delivered at least 53 (2 Phase-2) helicopters to the Land Forces Command, 6 to the Gendarmerie General Command and 1 ATAK helicopter to the General Directorate of Security. Of the ATAK FAZ-2 configuration, the first deliveries of which were made, 21 will be delivered at the first stage.
