Critical security against cyber attacks

The implementer of the project, SAU Faculty Member Prof. Dr. İbrahim Özçelik said, “Countries now consider cyber security as important as security systems such as air and land. In this regard, attacks on cyber infrastructures have been carried out in different countries. All these cyber attacks, which cause disruption of the society and the state order and are made to leak information, require that cyber infrastructures have critical security. As SAU, we see the protection of this security as a need, and in line with this vision, we started the 'Critical Infrastructures National Test Bed Center' project in cooperation with Defense Technologies Engineering. After 14 months of work, we completed our test bed center project. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the project ”

Domestic and national support for country defense

Defense Technologies Engineering General Manager Özgür Güleryüz said, “STM is a company dedicated to the defense of the homeland. As the defense industry, we see cyber security as a must. Due to the constantly advancing technology, we can be exposed to cyber attacks in many areas. In this context, our center developed test bed for the first time we have spent life in Turkey. In this respect, the center that we opened will be a local and national support to our country in the field of cyber security. I hope it will be beneficial for our country and I thank all our friends who have contributed.

a first in Turkey

Prof. Dr. Fatih Savaşan said, “Today is a very important day for us. On the one hand, the project that our university's esteemed professors have been working on for more than a year has ended with success. This test bed is a first in Turkey and I believe that to meet the needs of an important sector in terms of ensuring the security of critical infrastructure. By cooperating with an important defense industry company such as STM, we have gained the opportunity to offer a high value-added service to the sector. Today we are opening our Critical Infrastructures National Test Bed Center. The industry will benefit from this center in ensuring the security of water and electricity infrastructure, testing cyber defense products and developing new products. Our goal is to enlarge our center to include every area that our country accepts as critical infrastructure and to make Sakarya University a cyber security base. On this important day, I would like to thank you for not leaving us alone and honoring us with your honor, and wish our center to be beneficial ”.

Support for cyber security infrastructure from Sakarya

Stating that technology is an indispensable part of life, President Ekrem Yüce said, “We are experiencing the happiness of breaking a new ground again in Sakarya through our university. In our digitalizing age, we benefit from the opportunities offered by technology in all areas of life. In addition, our state is working hard to create an independent and national technological infrastructure. It is a great pleasure for me to come from our city, our university as a contribution to these studies. I would like to express my gratitude to all those who contributed to the establishment of this center, which will develop national solutions for our country's cyber security infrastructure, defense needs, innovative technologies, and which is the first in our country. It is our greatest wish that such centers increase even more in our city and country ”.

The product of the private sector and academic infrastructure

Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan, "according to TurkStat report Almost half of Turkey's private R & D investment in the finance sector, while more than half of public and higher education institutions is provided. Various studies are carried out by combining the needs and expectations of each other around a common goal, the institutional infrastructure of the academy and the innovation capabilities of the companies. The National Test Bed Center, created in cooperation with STM and SAU, is a good example in this context. It makes us happy that this center, which was established, will develop capacity in the security of critical infrastructures, turn academic studies into domestic and national concrete projects with university-industry cooperation, and contribute to increase the durability of critical infrastructures regarding cyber security. At the same time, it excites us that it will turn into an R&D center. Stating that I believe that the National Test Bed Center will increase the domestic and national production initiatives in line with the 2023 targets by modeling academic studies in real environment, I hope our center will bring good luck to our country ”.
