The United Transport Workers Union (BTS) sent a letter to the relevant institutions to initiate Regional and Mainline Train Trips.

In the letter sent to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and the General Directorate of TCDD, citizens and railway personnel suffered due to the fact that the train services have not started yet, intercity buses, planes, city buses, minibuses, metrobus, subways as well as High Speed Train, MARMARAY, BAŞKENRAY, Stating that they work by taking the necessary precautions in İZBAN, citizens; It was emphasized that the start of the trips considering the number of seats, number of trips and corona virus measures within the scope of the cheap, healthy, qualified transportation right is the urgent expectation of railway employees and citizens.

Within the scope of the Covid 19 pandemic measures in the world and in our country, High Speed Trains and regional and outline train services have been stopped since March 28, 2020, and High Speed Train services have been restarted with the gradual removal of intercity entry and exit restrictions on May 4, 2020.
Failure to start regional and mainline train services, which are economical compared to many means of transportation, is a victim of our citizens.
Questions about when the train services will start will be started by both citizens and various non-governmental organizations and circles via social media and parliamentarians. Responses were given as "our trains are being prepared" from the official accounts of the General Directorate.
While working by taking the measures of High Speed Train, MARMARAY, BAŞKENRAY, İZBAN COVİD-19 together with intercity buses, planes, city buses, minibuses, metrobuses, subways, it is a difficult situation to explain in the eyes of citizens and institutions related to citizens and institutions. However, while this situation deprives our citizens, who are experiencing economically difficult times in pandemic conditions, from cheap and accessible transportation, it also causes grievances.
In our country, there are industrial zones and factories, especially on regional train lines, and the trains, which citizens see as cheap and safe means of transport, are not operated within the scope of pandemic measures, while the risk of transmission of the virus is not low at all. They are condemned to travel by vehicles for much higher fees.
On the other hand, not running the trains still causes TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş. to suffer a serious amount of damage, while also causing financial loss for the on-train personnel.
In addition, our staff on duty face difficulties in commuting to and from their duties as passenger trains do not run.
While train is the only means of transportation that can be easily taken for a healthy transportation and is the only comprehensive, controllable transportation vehicle, we regret that no preparations have been made in the past year, although it is stated that the preparations for the launch of the mainline and region train services are ongoing.
Covid 19 is one of the most important demands of citizens in pandemic conditions; It is the urgent expectation of railway employees and citizens to start the voyages as soon as possible, taking into account the number of seats, number of trips and corona virus measures within the scope of the cheap, healthy and qualified transportation right.
In this context; We request that we be informed about when the regional and main line train services will start to serve, and that the regional and main line train services are taken as soon as possible in accordance with the pandemic conditions in order to eliminate the grievances of our citizens and on-train personnel.
