Ankara Chamber of Commerce (ATO) Chairman Gürsel Baran was held for the high speed train line to be built between Ankara and Istanbul to pass through the historical Silk Road connecting Sakarya via Ankara, Ayaş, Güdül, Beypazarı, Nallıhan, Mudurnu or Göynük. He participated in the awareness-raising meeting of the “Historical Silk Road New Generation High Speed ​​Train Project”.

The meeting, hosted by the Ankara City Council (AKK), was held in the AKK Building, with ATO Deputy Chairman Temel Aktay, ATO Deputy Chairman Halil İbrahim Yılmaz, who is also the Chairman of the AKK Executive Board, Nurettin Özdebir, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO), and Seyit Ardıç, Ankara Commodity Exchange (ATB) Chairman Faik Yavuz, Capital Ankara Council Chairman Nevzat Ceylan, Ankara Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen Association (ANKESOB) President Mehmet Yiğiner, Ankara Club Association Chairman Dr. Metin Özaslan and President of Kırşehir People Federation Hilmi Gökçınar attended the meeting.

Speaking at the meeting, Gürsel Baran, Chairman of the Board of ATO, stated that he was very pleased with the initiatives of Ankara's non-governmental organizations to come together to form a common vision for the future of the Capital.

Pointing to the importance of the issue of passing the high speed train line between Ankara and Istanbul over the historical Silk Road, which was brought to the agenda by Nevzat Ceylan, the Chairman of the Capital Ankara Assembly, Baran said, “Ankara is a covered treasure, let's remove this cover. We are above a treasure but we are not aware of it. We will take every step taken side by side for this city. We will support all projects that will provide economic and social benefits to Ankara, ”he said. Baran also gave information about the work carried out by the Ankara Chamber of Commerce on starting direct flights from Ankara to abroad.

Halil İbrahim Yılmaz, Vice Chairman of the Board of ATO and Chairman of the Executive Board of AKK, stated in his speech that each of the non-governmental organizations that came together at the meeting worked to realize the dreams of Ankara and emphasized the importance of the Ankara-Istanbul High Speed ​​Train project. Yilmaz, "When we look at Turkey's recent huge investments implemented, the cost of a new high-speed train line route to Ankara remains very low, but they give a very big city. "We will plant all our dreams about the capital on this route," he said.

In his speech, Nevzat Ceylan, Chairman of the Capital Ankara Assembly, explained the Historical Silk Road New Generation High Speed ​​Train Project, which is one of the goals of revealing the historical and touristic values ​​of Ankara, and said that the project will shorten the road between Ankara and Istanbul by about 70 km. Noting that the historical Silk Road was connected to Sakarya via Ankara, Ayaş, Güdül, Beypazarı, Nallıhan, Mudurnu or Göynük in the past, Ceylan said, “Where do caravans pass? It passes where the climate is most suitable. This line is the most suitable route with its climate and route. Therefore, caravans used this route as the Silk Road. Despite many attempts to shorten the Ankara-Istanbul road in the past, it was not desired. We need to be able to explain that these two cities with a total population of over 22 million must pass through the specified route, ”he said.

At the meeting, AKK Vice President Prof. Dr. Savaş Zafer Şahin, AKK Executive Board Members Assoc. Dr. Lale Özgenel, Ceren Anadol and Süleyman Basa also took part.
