Test drives continued on the Ankara-Sivas high-speed train line. It has been announced that the test drives will take 4-5 months. Based in Ankara, Sivas high-speed train services will be launched after Istanbul, Eskişehir and Konya. The flights are expected to start in the third or last quarter of the year in this case. However, estimated calculations are made based on the "criteria" that will form the basis for train ticket prices. High speed train tickets are generally cheaper than the plane and relatively expensive than the bus. Line length stands out as an important factor.
Ankara-Sivas is a line of 405 kilometers. It has a length that can be considered close to the Ankara-Istanbul high-speed train line. The ticket price between Ankara and Istanbul (until Söğütlüçeşme) is 85 TL 50 kuruş. On the new line, a price close to Ankara-Istanbul ticket prices may be on the agenda. In this case, the tickets are considered to be 100-150 TL as a high probability.
"Conventional" (existing) line will be used between Ankara-Kırıkkale Baliseyh for a while. In this section, construction work continues. After Kırıkkale, the newly built high speed train line will be used up to Sivas. When the line is completed, the travel time between Ankara and Sivas will be 2 hours by train.
12 TRAIN DELIVERED
In 2018, TCDD agreed with German Siemens for 12 high-speed train sets financed by the Islamic Development Bank. Siemens completed the said trains within the prescribed schedule and delivered them to TCDD Tasimacilik. The last of the trains arrived in Ankara recently. TCDD is testing the trains. The trains whose tests are completed will be put on the line when needed.
